Florist- but….not a lot of flowers?

Cristina, on March 22, 2022 at 4:58 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8
Next on my list is the florist! Here’s the thing… I’m really not into flowers. I’m good with my bouquet being flowers and even the brides maids. But as far as venue decoration I’d prefer greenery over flowers. I mean if someone has had bridesmaid and/or their bouquet done with mostly greenery I’d love to see that too! Has anyone done this and can share pictures/maybe costs?

Greenery can still be very expensive, my sister in law had greenery center pieces and her florist bill was over 3 grand. Most florists go by stem with cost, greenery doesn’t add much volume to items and are their to add texture and to round off. Greenery wedding are still beautiful and highly recommend if you don’t like flowers but if money is a bit tighter. Maybe see about adding bigger cheaper flowers to add up bulk, their are green flowers. I’m doing two hydrangeas to each centerpiece and they take up so much room and I love it.
Of course do what you’d want to do. Best of luck 😄

My florist told me that greenery is not simple and it takes a great deal of time to make garlands and weave and twine the pieces together. I asked for a greenery garland to be placed on my 6ft bar and it was $125. I ended up going with it and very happy with my decision. I don’t have any pics but there’s so much out there on google and Pinterest!

Some “decor items” I had were...
a wedding arch $(250). She did loads of greenery, plus florals that matched my bouquet and centerpieces.
My centerpieces were just simple 6” vases with flowers.
And since I had a tent, I asked for 4 floral “tie backs” to put on the tent legs.
Keep in mind that my florist was unbelievably affordable. Your prices might not match mine!
Good luck. I love greenery 🤩

Flowers weren’t a huge priority for me so I’m renting silk flowers from Something Borrowed Blooms. They also have a greenery collection if you’re looking for a low cost overall and still get that greenery look.

I'm not into traditional flowers either. Some common greenery options are ivy, eucalyptus, ferns, tropical palms, succulents. All are gorgeous but have different draping, thickness, and mood. Ivy could be combined with an english garden look. Eucalyptus smell wonderful, have a coin shape, and are often in boho or rustic weddings. Ferns give a moody, softness with textured leaves (I've used this for retirement party centerpieces). I went tropical palms for height and texture, but also because palm trees became our pandemic hobby. Succulents give a desert boho feel, are smaller in shape but big on design. These may be the most affordable. I would also look up "botanical" in searches for invitations and see what inspires you. Best wishes.

You can also use moss for terrarium centerpieces. Quite modern and moody.

The florist was my first vendor I completely cut! I thrifted a box of pressed and dried flowers & went to the craft store to get a couple of extra things to fill them up! Cost me about $35 to all 3 bouquets! Florist- but….not a lot of flowers? 1

Also, we decided to use greenery and pampas grass as center pieces instead. However, ours are not real. I bought everything from Michael’s. Each garland cost me about $8 each (1 per table) and pampas grass was $20 for a bundle off Amazon and we did small glass vases I got from the dollar store!

I also enjoy greenery and wanted a simple vibe. Our reception tables are rectangular - we're doing loose greenery (ruscus) and some pillar candles and votives. I would note - however - that it being loose greenery is what kept the cost down. Garland is still pretty expensive, as the process of them putting it together is time consuming, and it requires a lot more stems of greens. The loose greenery gets a similar look, while being a lot cheaper.
