Florals

Samantha, on January 23, 2020 at 1:52 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

How much did you spend on florals and what did you order? Centerpieces, bouquets (how many?), boutonnières, corsages? All of these plus more, only a few?

We are in central Texas and I'm finding a rollercoaster of prices. The venue that I'm most excited about gave us a pretty expensive quote and I'm starting to panic about if we choose to bite the bullet with this venue, will we be able to afford everything else we want.

I spent $1177 on four bouquets, 6 corsages, 14 boutonnieres, and a ceremony arch. I made the centerpieces for about $200.

We are looking at $4k for our florals for the following:
bridal bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 2 corsages, 10 boutonniere's, 2 large altar arrangements, 1 head table arrangement, 1 large 20 ft. beam arrangement (overhead installation), 30 centerpieces (big wedding), 1 swag for seating chart
This quote was by far the cheapest. I met with 7 florists and all other quotes were anywhere from $6-10k

I'm going to preface my quote by saying that I LOVE florals and my grandmother was a florist for 40 years so having impactful florals was important to me. We're paying $4,600 for a ceremony arch, garland for head table, 12 centerpieces for round tables, garland for sweetheart table, bridal bouquet, 2 corsages, 4 boutonnieres, and a large arrangement for our guest book table.

We're doing our own bouquets so we are only paying $500 + $50 for assembly supplies (ribbon, tape, pins, etc.)!

My matron of honor knows how to assemble bouquets so she offered to teach me how to do them so she and I can put them together the day before the wedding!

My quote is $5000 including taxes and flip fees. We're doing a bridal bouquet, 2 bridesmaids' bouquets, two MOB/G bouquets, 6 boutonnieres, blooms for cocktail hour bud vases, 6 chair decor for ceremony, wedding arch flowers, greenery for string lights above dance floor, 10 table garlands with flowers, and sweetheart table garland. I don't think I'm forgetting anything!

In total, we spent about $3000. But the only real flowers we're having is the bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages. So at the florist, it was about $1190 for 1 bride's bouquet, 6 bridesmaids' bouquets, 2 corsages, and 9 boutonnieres. We also added flowers for our welcome sign and rented some decor for the pews at our ceremony. We went through a decor rental company for our centerpieces. I wanted large and small centerpieces, but they would be over $100 if they were real flowers. So we decided on silk flowers, we got 10 large centerpieces for $50 each and smaller ones for $45. We rented a floral backdrop for our sweetheart table and other decor. So we definitely saved a lot by doing a mixture of both real and faux flowers.

Our budget was 6500. Florals were crazy important to me so we used about 25% of our overall budget on florals instead of the crazy 6% every budget planning tool told up to do. My florist (8th person I sat down with) came back with an estimate of 6268. Here's what we are getting:
Huge Bridal bouquet that drapes the floor
A floral comb for me3 brides maids hoops with ribbon2 flower girl crownsPetals and greenery for flower girls1 groom bout11 bouts4 corsages12 huge 3 ft centerpieces for reception tables/ decor for ceremony ( we are moving them during cocktail hour)2 huge boho style asymetrical arbor installations 4 barrel arrangements6 rectangular centerpieces for cocktail hour2 bar arrangements 1 powder room arrangementCake flowers

I actually got most of my flowers and things from the clearance Christmas aisle. It worked out perfect for us. We handmade all six of the bouquets and boutonnieres. I maybe spent $250, give or take, for all of it. Florals 1
