Florals

Adriana, on October 6, 2020 at 8:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

I've reached out to a number of florists in my area and the best quote I've received for a bridal bouquet, boutonniere, and 2-3 centerpieces is about $350. This is a do-able price for me but I'm still on the fence about spending that for flowers that won't last more than a week. I've thought of reaching out to my local grocery store (Shoprite) to see what they would offer but I'm not sure that they will have flowers that are my style or color scheme. Does anyone have experience with their floral services? I put some photos below of what I'm looking for.

I’m going to try to attempt to make our own with my bridesmaids and my mom we been looking at videos lol. I refuse to pay so much for something that won’t last a week like you said but I want real flowers.

I'm not even going to try to order via a floral boutique. I'm too frugal. I plan to get some flowers from wither the grocery store or a farmer's market and buy some bouquet wrap/cloth and create it myself.

I think that cost is fair. That's a very specific color scheme, I doubt the grocery will achieve what you're looking for as much as a smaller florist.

That is actually a great price!

I did not want to spend a fortune on flowers either, we dried and preserved 2 bouquets and I enjoy having those.

The floral arrangements/bouquets/etc. for a relative's wedding came from an East Coast grocery store (Wegman's) and they were gorgeous. I'm nearly certain she explained what she wanted and they were able to meet her expectations. I don't know the price, but she said they were significantly less expensive than all of the quotes she got from florists.

If you have a specific look in mind, go with a professional florist. The only way I'd recommend going the grocery/drug store route is if you or someone close to you with the time has experience arranging flowers, you are keeping florals minimal, and don't have a particular color scheme, variety of flower, or size of bloom in mind.

The cost you were quoted seems very reasonable.

How did you dry and preserve them? Just the hang upside down method? I would love to do this with my flowers, it would make me feel better about spending the money on them

Yes, that is pretty much what I did. There are a ton of companies that will try them and preserve them for you though if you wanted to go that route. I was going to have a company called "Designs by Andrea" (here is her website if you're interested in checking her out https://www.dbandrea.com/), but unfortunently she was booked up when I needed mine done Smiley sad .
