Florals: Real vs Fake

Lauren, on November 10, 2017 at 9:36 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 35

Okay ya'll, tell me what you deem "acceptable" when it comes to using real vs fake florals/flowers! What can you get away with being fake? What do you deem the most important for using real foliage? Do guests notice those things anyways? Or are they just good for photos?

Give me all the opinions!!

(Just so you know, I am in love with all the natural florals/greenery. So I don't plan on there being too many flowers involved anyways.)

ETA: I'm on my 4th (shhh don't tell) Redd's Raspberry Ale and highly recommend it for you ladies that love something sweet/tart that's still kind of beer but not wine (LOL)!

Most WW users will say real or no flowers at all but I think quality silk/fake flowers can be done and done well. I personally plan on using silk flowers for my own wedding because:

    A) I can get any type of flower I desire even in the dead of winter and don't have to worry about wilting, browning, or availibilty.

    B) Several people on my guest list suffer from flower related allergies.

    C) I can admire my bouquet for longer than just a night. But I'm sentimental like that.

    D) They are lighter and elaborate swags and 'ropes' can be made without water reservoirs that can weigh them down and dictate where they can be hung.

    E) Often times cheaper (Michaels and JoAnns are always having sales of over 50%)

    F) They can be resold to another bride on a budget.

My fh's grandmother makes fake flowers, and imo they look so much better!! They will be exactly as you with that way.

We will probably do fake. I just do not consider flowers a priority, and the cost is ridiculous for something that will go in the trash. I just do not have a green thumb, to even know where to begin with real flowers (And just don't care) I've seen some gorgeous bouquets on Etsy, that I may end up getting

I've been going back and forth myself. I was telling my mom I'm considering fake, and she thinks at least my bouquet should be real. Flowers aren't high on my list of priorities, and quite frankly I don't think my guests will care whether the centerpieces are real or fake.

Ours will be fake. We have a lot of people with allergies and I can either sell or repurpose the flowers after the wedding. Flowers aren't a huge priority to me.

I will have some fake centerpieces from Something Borrowed Blooms...they are rentals and $20 per centerpiece. I think if the flowers are high quality they can be as much as real ones but you can keep your bouquet or sell everything afterwards if you wanted. Real flowers are nice too but out of my budget lol.

I'm getting fake because I want to tick flowers off my list, and my mum's coming to visit soon (we live in different countries) and she's going to go with me and help. She's also bringing some native Australian flowers so they can be worked in too.

My parents had fake flowers at their wedding.

BUT I only have a bouquet/flower crown/ buttonholes to worry about not centerpieces or bridesmaids.

I don't like fake flowers. They always look cheap to me. Quality silk flowers are a nice alternative, but can cost just as much as real flowers.

Real just looks better. I went to one wedding where they used fake flowers and did a terrible job with it so everything looked horrible and the pictures are terrible. If you do it right, I'm sure fake flowers could be really pretty.

When considering real or fake check overall cost for both. Also if you know a lot of people with allergies fake may be the way to go. If you do go with fake make sure you check quality.

I would always go with real flowers. There are some nice fake flowers our there, but they cost just as much, or more, as the real deal. If you are trying to save money, you will end up with horrible cheap flowers.

& will have to check out that ale! Smiley winking

I did fake because we had a destination wedding. But they came out beautifully!! And my bridesmaids were happy they got to keep them and put them in vases at their houses.

My reception florals on the tables are silk. My bouquet/ the wedding party florals are real . I'll also have real roses on the sign in table , the buffet table and at the bar

I feel like nice silk flowers cost the same as real flowers, so may as well get the real ones.

Flowers are just not that high on my list of priorities. My venue has so much natural beauty (there's a hedge-lined stone path to walk down in the backyard to overlook a wide open field), that I don't feel pressure to add much to it. Our centerpieces will involve candles, lanterns, and books, so that won't require much more than a small floral accent.

My aunt has offered to put together floral arrangements and we'll buy the supplies she needs. Last week she informed me that my wedding is the day before Easter as if I didn't know (haha) and said that because she'll be out of town the weekend before, she doesn't think real will even be an option. Good thing I didn't have my heart set one way or another. As long as they aren't glaringly fake, I don't think I'll be concerned.
