Floral Setup

Nicole, on July 20, 2020 at 9:10 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 6
So my venue agreed to letting us adjust our start time when we were discussing postponing AGAIN into next year. After I found the only mutually available date between all of our vendors, my venue came back and said that they will now be converting part of the estate into a supper club and we will not be able to access/have vendors access most of the estate until after 3:30pm (basically meaning that we can’t change our event time). My florist is coming back saying that she will not have enough time to setup for the wedding in 2-3 hours- even with putting everything together prior to the day of the wedding. She also wants a final count, which is absolutely impossible for me to give with everything going on right now, so I rounded up to 200, assuming that 20-30% of our guests won’t attend. Even next year.

If we only needed personal floral, 15 floral wreaths (centerpieces), and 5 large candelabra vases filled with floral and maybe one other piece, would that take multiple people more than 2-3 hours to setup for the event?

Are you asking if your florist will take that long, or if you DIY it? Because I can tell you from a friend's wedding it took us a day just to get 3 bouquets, 3 corsages, and I think 5 boutonnieres done. I can only imagine that wreaths and large centerpieces may take more time and many more hands.

You can buy flowers etc from Costco or Sams including centerpieces if you’re looking at in between florist and diy

I am asking about placement. She is saying she needs to hire people for setup. I wouldn’t think it would take a florist more than 2 hours to set that stuff up and distribute personal floral, but maybe I’m missing the mark. I genuinely don’t know.

Huh it doesn’t sound like it would take that long if all she’s doing is placing it, especially if they’re already prepared the day before

Gotcha- honestly it does sounds like she would be cutting close to me. She also needs to think of travel time and other factors such as working around other vendors. My mom worked in catering and typically the florists were some of the last to arrive after tables, chairs, and food stations were set up first.

It just depends on the involvement of setup. We originally was suppose to have 2 big gazebo florals, 5 centerpieces, 5 boutonnières, and a bridal bouquet. To setup the gazebo florals and centerpieces, they said it would take under an hour.
