Floral Quote

Mrsc2Be, on April 4, 2019 at 12:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
My fiancé and I got a quote for our flowers this weekend, and it was more than I want to spend. We already have a few ways we think we can cut back.

How big are your bridal and bridesmaid bouquets? Mine say 8-10 in diameter for myself and 6 inch diameter for my maids. Are these going to look proportional?

This sounds reasonable, but I'm honestly not sure. Ours didn't give us a diameter measurement. Mine will have 12 roses (two colors), 5 lisianthus, and assorted greenery for $120. The bridesmaids will have 7 roses (two colors) and 3 lisianthus and greenery for $80.

Those are the same diameters I have, you should be fine. All of mine look great together!

Cool! Ours are a little pricier, but I think it’s because the original quote is almost all roses. I told them that they can sub other flowers because I don’t really care or know much about florals. I just want simple, minimalist ivory and blush bouquets with greenery.

That sounds about right. You want the bridal bouquet to be bigger than the bridesmaids' bouquets. At least I do.

I am also reeling about the cost of real flowers. I have been looking into silk flowers for that reason. So far, am finding them less expensive than real.

Can you give your budget number to your florist and then ask for their suggestions on how to get to that number?

Yes, I’m going to try that. I’m going to see where we can make some concessions.

And silk would be fine except that our church has a firm “have to be real flowers” rule. I’m not sure the reasoning, but...

I'm not sure, my florist didn't give me dimensions. For $875, we are getting: a large cascading bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaid bouquets (w/ MOH's being larger), 2 arch arrangements, 4 corsages, 12 boutonnieres, and flower girl petals. She should be making a mock up for me this weekend with the flowers we discussed. I'm pretty excited, and having a hard time patiently waiting, lol. I really wanted real flowers, and didn't want the stress of DIY. I knew we wouldn't be able to afford a florist to do EVERYTHING (i.e. decor and centerpieces), but I'm think we got a good price for what she is providing.

I am only getting my bouquet, bridesmaid greenery bouquets, flower girls petals, and cut up eucalyptus for my centerpieces from the florist, so it isn't too expensive to begin with. She quoted me $150 for my bouquet, and after talking with FH I called back and asked if she could do something smaller for $50, and she said she can. I don't care much for flowers and just want something to hold. I'm sure it will be very small, but I just couldn't justify spending that much on ONE bouquet that I will be holding for 30 minutes total.

I am not sure what exact size they will be though.

My bridesmaids are 8in mine is 10-12 I believe. That's proportionate! I too had to cut out some things because while I didn't want to sacrifice all my pricier flowers in our bouquets and some in the centerpieces I just had to cut certain pieces out or downsize things or have things like the arbor have less of the staple flowers in because I really didn't want to be too far over budget.

Mine is around that. But I'm also going with wildflowers, that are local and seasonal to the area from a community CSA farm. Way less expensive going this route, rather than other traditional flowers.
