Kristen, on January 30, 2019 at 2:36 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

What is an average amount to spend on florals for wedding and reception? I have no idea where to start!

Hey Kristen!! Welcome to WeddingWire!! Smiley ring Floral prices vary in different parts of the country, but the national average is about $1,400, with the average range being $700 to $2,500.

(You can look at why in the WeddingWire cost guide, which also gives you a good baseline for all the other factors of a wedding, like venue and catering.)

Depends on region, but I think around here the average is around $2,000 - 3,000 for all real flowers.

All the money you have, plus 1k more. Smiley winking

I had the most sticker shock with flowers. Some florists in Denver won’t even talk to you for less than $4k.

I think this depends on the type of flowers you want mainly and what's in season. Besides paying for the flowers you have to remember that there's also labor, possibly delivery and set up fees too. If you use in season flowers your budget could be lowered a little. Orchids, gardenia's, lillies, and roses are always going to be expensive. If there are certain flowers you know you want incorporated ask them the per stem cost per flower, so you can decide if you want to use them or not.

I had a friendor as our florist, owns her own flower shops, and we paid $2,200 for only flowers. She didn't charge us labor, delivery, or set up. Those prices are reflective of the Philly suburbs.

WOW flowers here in the states are really expensive. I'm paying $250 (Puerto Rico) for my bridesmaids bouquets, my bouquet, 3 corsages and 5 boutonnieres. ALL REAL FLOWERS, I'm doing roses for mine.

Depends on what kind of flowers, what's in season at the time of your wedding, and of course..how much are you asking the florist provide? We went mostly with florals that can be found year-round and are getting: 3 bouquets, 2 corsages, 5 boutonnieres, 3 sprays for the ceremony area (which they will move inside for us to decorate tables at reception), 3 colors of rose petals, and flowers for our cake. That plus delivery and set up is only around 1100.

You can definitely be creative to get the most bang for your buck, but there are areas that are much more expensive than others. I found the WW tool to be helpful in figuring out average prices our area then from there I just got estimates from vendors.

I’m in Philadelphia and paying $1515 for 5 bouquets, 3 corsages, 8 boutonnières, 3 flower crowns for flower girls, 12 mason jar arrangements that will double for the ceremony and centerpieces, garland for the sweetheart table, and 1/2 the favors (succulents). All the flowers I wanted were in her premium tier. I would talk to some florists - some can come down on price depending on the flowers you want, the season, or where they source their flowers from. I’d also steer clear of the big name event florists in the area, who in my experience tend to charge more just because they are so well established in the industry. Good luck!

Ours are around $3,000 but we’re doing all floral centerpieces so that’s the largest expense. If you want real flowers but don’t have enough in the budget for that high of a cost consider doing real floral bouquets and then opt for a different type of centerpiece or a centerpiece with a small number of flowers.

This is entirely dependent on big city versus rural florists and the flower choices you make. There are some shops that have a lot of pull in getting the flowers you want/need and others that get forgotten about because they go to other shops first. It's a huge crazy market where many flowers come from CA and Australia. I would consider looking into your non-specialty florists (the ones who do birthday, valentines, sympathy arrangements) often they are cheaper.

Some florist nowadays have itemize prices on their website, look around the ones that serve your area and you should be able to get an approx.

Most common items: Setup and Take down, delivery, bride bouquet, BM bouquet, boutonnières, center pieces, cake flower, hair flower, ceremony decorations.
