Floating candles vs pillar candles as centerpiece

Julia , on November 29, 2018 at 11:52 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Hi everyone!
Im not having floral centerpieces but having three cylinder vases with eucalyptus surrounding the vases and gold votives. I like the idea of using pillar candles because all the pics on Pinterest I’ve seen look so romantic and rich. However, they’re a tad pricey and this idea was supposed to save me money vs doing flowers. (We will have 40 guest tables + head table + side tables.) I’ve recently considered having floating candles in the vases on the guest tables and pillars everywhere else but want to make sure I still get that romantic vibe. Has anyone else had this dilemma? What are your thoughts/opinions? Thanks!

I think either option will look great! If you really want pillar candles check out thecandledepot.com. They have some bulk packages that are very reasonably priced and also have a coupon for 10% off. Good luck!

I think you’ll achieve the same look either way. With that many tables, I’d definitly go with floating candles because they will save you a TON. Check out quickcandles.com....they have awesome prices for bulk candles.

That is a lot of candles to buy! I went with pillars, but I only needed 6 sets of 3. I think I would go with the floating candles if you need them for that many tables. I would recommend quickcandles.com as well. They had the best bulk pricing I could find.

I'm DIY my candles, I went to Dollar Tree to get an idea and they are gifts also, as well as wildflower seeds from Etsy.

Hi Julia! Welcome to WeddingWire! Your vision sounds amazing! I agree with some of the previous posters in that you will achieve a very similar look regardless of which you choose to use! I think that floating candles are really pretty, and would likely save you some money, but both sound so beautiful! Smiley kiss

When using pillars how do you avoid suit on cylinder glass?

Lots of dollar stores near my house have pillar candles so it might be worth it checking there to see if yours have. At my walmart, they sell pillar candles in packs for pretty fair pricing. If not, I would do maybe just the ones in the long vases as pillars and the ones in the votives as floating.
