Flip flops for my bridesmaids and I?

I’m seriously considering asking the bridesmaids to wear matching Archies. I would wear them in white (or maybe dark blue for my something blue). I’m getting married near the beach. Photos will likely be either in the sand or on the grass or both. Cocktail hour will be outside on the lawn. Heels are going to be tricky, and I do think I want everyone’s shoes to match. The only downside is they’re not fancy-looking, but they are so comfortable and honestly practical for the terrain, and the dresses will be long anyway so I don’t think shoes will be a real focal point. Thoughts? Ideas on a similar sandal? A lot of the formal/wedding sandals I see have no arch and I know I’ll be in pain.

If the dresses are long, I would just let each bridesmaid choose her own shoes. Personally, I hate flip flops and have a hard time walking in any shoe that doesn’t have some sort of ankle strap or backing. Just designate a color and let them wear what they are comfortable in.

I agree with Hannah on letting your bridesmaids pick their shoes. Everyone has their own preferences and you won’t see their shoes anyway

I d let them pick their own shoes but if you do go with the flip flops make sure everyone gets their dress altered wearing them. Wouldn't want anyone's dress to be too long. As a petite gal tripping on a long dress is always a fear of. mine esp if wearing flats.

Nooooo! Its your wedding day. If there's any day to get dressed up its this day. Get a basket of flip flops for later for guests whose feet hurt but not as part of your attire!

We are getting married on the beach, and 98% of the photos will also be there. I am wearing barefoot sandals and my bridesmaids (2) are doing whatever they choose - barefoot, flip flops, I really don't care. The reception is on a patio deck, so I will change into shoes for that. I did buy flip-flops (50 cents a pair!) to put in a basket for guests.

It’s less about feet hurting and more about not actively hurting ourselves. The grass and sand are easy places to roll an ankle.

Wear flat shoes or wedges that offer full surface area. Flip flops no bueno until later

I appreciate your opinion on that but as I said it’s a beach-adjacent wedding and we will be on uneven terrain for photos. Even wedges are risky.

Flats are going to be your friend in this scenario. I think you'll discover that flip flops are more difficult in a wedding dress.

If your BMs are wearing long dresses, then tell them about the terrain and let them choose their own shoes.

Flip flops will kick sand up onto you and your dress. Plus, it's very difficult to dance in flip flops. I would advice flat shoes or wedges.

Just let them pick their own shoes. Flip flops are horrible for balance/traction/safety and I would not wear them. Let them know what type of ground they'll be walking on and they'll all find something they're comfy with, you don't need to micromanage this.

I would also be concerned about the sound, especially in the sand because then they tend to sink in a little and snap back louder. At least that’s what happens to me haha.

So, if you're requiring them to get shoes, it's polite for you to pay for them.

Some people really cannot wear flip flops for varying reasons, primarily because of poor heel stability and difficulty lifting the feet high enough to clear the toe without it folding. For some, they are a tripping hazard.

If the shoes aren't a focal point, I would have them wear a shoe that makes them feel well supported and balanced.
