Flip flops for guests

Morgan, on March 20, 2019 at 9:15 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 22
How necessary is it to provide flip flop for guests? I have 150 coming and I figured I could get around 50 pairs for $50 (thanks dollar tree), but my fiancé asked me if this was completely necessary and I couldn’t give him an answer. Lol All I know is I’ve seen it done pretty commonly around where we live, but I don’t know if people will actually miss them if they’re not provided. I’m could save the $50 , but wanted to see if you all considered this a “must”?

I wouldn't worry to much about it. That 50 can go a long way somewhere else.

I had thought about getting flip flops for our guests for our DW, but decided against it when I thought more about it. I'd have to know foot sizes for people for it to be beneficial and practical to spend the money. I'd suggest putting that money elsewhere personally.

Definitely not a must. I’ve never even been to a wedding where this was a thing? And I’ve been to a lot of weddings lol. You’re better off using that money elsewhere!

Is it so that people can dance/be more comfortable during the reception? I’ve never seen it done. My personal opinion is that people should either think ahead about whether or not they really want to wear the super cute and painful shoes all night, or just go barefoot. Lol. That’s what’s always happened at weddings that I’ve been to. But that’s probably just the circle of people that I’m in.

I would say not necessary at all! I’ve never been to a wedding where they had this. When I go somewhere I always consider the shoes I’m wearing, if they aren’t comfortable for a full night I bring a bag large enough to carry a pair of comfy ones. I would never expect a bride/groom to provide me with shoes.

Cool idea but not necessary! I’ve been to A LOT of weddings over the last 10 years, and only 1 wedding provided flip flops for the guests.

I've never seen this. We went to a wedding that gave out slippers. Which were fun and the bride wore comfy slippers to dance in.
I wouldn't wear flip-flops that were at a wedding, the thong style is not comfortable if you don't wear them often and I have certain ones I own that I'd probably bring if I thought about it. I'd pass and you might have a ton left over.

I would say no. It's an unnecessary expense to me. I went to a wedding all dressed up knowing that the heels I wore would be killing me after awhile. I brought other shoes to change into, but even if I hadn't I'd either have went barefooted or sucked it up in my heels.

If you get shoes like that you have to think about sizes.. what if you get all 7-8s and they are either huge or too small for the guests who want them? Then it's just wasted money..

I would save the money, if people are concerned about their feet hurting they should wear more comfortable shoes in the first place lol

Not a must. If it's a beach wedding on your website put the attire. I wouldn't think it's even necessary even more so for a non beach wedding. Why do they need flip flops? If they wore stilettos that's their problem and they can go barefoot if they so chose to take them off. It's not my responsibility what shoes guests decided to wear.

I don't think it's a must at all. In fact, I would rather be barefoot than try to dance in flip flops.

This was done at the last wedding that I went to and it was a hit with the ladies! Smiley smile The bride had about 4 cute woven boxes with flip flop sizes 6-10 there and in different colors too. We all really appreciated it since we were on our feet during a near 2 hour cocktail hour. Lol!

Personally it is a nice touch but definitely not necessary. I think we all would have been just okay dancing without our shoes on, but those flipflops were really thoughtful and did come in handy. Just not necessary. That extra $50 could really go to something else if you choose to pass on it.

It's not a must but it's a really cute wow factor. We are doing this as well and we'll have a basket inside the ladies restroom. But we will not have a pair for everyone. We are planning on doing about 25 pairs. We will also have a basket in the bathroom with mints, gum, hair ties, chapsticks tylenol, tampons/pads, Tide laundry detergent pens(in case someone gets foods on their clothes)

I considered this because we are having an outdoor reception. I decided instead to put a fun note on the reception invitation info:
