Flip Flop Station??

Anonymous, on May 19, 2012 at 8:20 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

I need some help! I have been searching everywhere for the etiquette of a flip flop station. I will have about 125 guests and was thinking of buying about 40 pairs of flip flops. How do I know how many of those should be female/male? What sizes should I get? Not sure how to go about this, any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I don't really know the etiquette but I am doing flip flops. Most flip flops are unisex. I am having around 60 guests and I have around 30 pairs of flip flops but that's only because I got a great deal. IMO, men won't use them so just think about the ladies at your wedding.

My colors are red and yellow so I got those plus black ones. I got a few smalls, more mediums and a few larges. I think the smalls were like 5/6, mediums 7/8 and larges were 9/10

I did something similar when I got married. I got 2 huge metal washing tubs from Home Depot, crackle painted them, and set them out by the entrance to the beach for people to put their shoes in. I made a coupe of signs with plywood, 1x2 board, plaster of paris and buckets (also crackle painted) so folks would know the bins were there for their shoes. It seemed to work well.

We did it, although we used a mixture of Chinese cotton Mary Janes and flip flops. (The Mary Janes stayed on better, and worked for our guests, many of whom were older and wore hose.) We assumed that only female guests would wear them, since few men wear uncomfortable shoes in the first place. As far as sizing goes, we checked eBay auctions for wholesale lots of flip flops, and saw how they were split up among large, medium, and small, and then we followed a similar percentage.

We ended up ordering more than our guests used. However, this was not a big deal to us, as we resold the unused ones for about what we paid for them.
