Flat foil vs. Raised foil

Future Mrs., on May 24, 2017 at 11:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi ladies! We are designing a very classy and sleek invitation, white cardstock with gold cursive font. We plan to do foil font, and I'm just wondering what your experience is with flat foil versus the raised? We are using Basic Invite for our order- they say their flat foil will not chip, and raised I think could really be beautiful. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! If you hate foil just because, that won't be the most helpful thing to know, but if you hate it because it disintegrated in your hands I am interested in hearing more! Smiley smile

I think raised anything would add a whole new dimension to the invitation!

We had gold foil stamping on our save the dates and gold foil edging on our wedding invitations! I didn't experience any issues with the foil printing, but we also ordered from a company that has a really great reputation (shout out to Smock) and we ordered through a local stationer so we could see and touch the actual samples in person.

If they are using letterpress or engraving techniques then I'd definitely choose that option!

We did foil letterpress on ours and loved it--does the company you are working with provide samples of both?? Also-I've received invites with engraved foil and never noticed anything wrong with them, though they are usually packed with tissue paper and letterpress/thermography doesn't require it, and the look is ever so slightly different. I think they are beautiful!
