Flash mob at my wedding

DA, on May 16, 2016 at 3:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

My cousins are planning to do a flash mob dance at my wedding. I will also be dancing, but my FH and his family do not know we are doing anything.

We did a rehearsal yesterday and it was so much fun!!!

Can't wait to do this Smiley smile - we are all so excited!

Anyone else did/doing something like this?

Nope. Flash mobs take a lot of actual work and people rarely want to put the time in.

hope it works out for you though!

Yes! My best friend's sister surprised her (and most of the guests) with a flash mob at her wedding. She pretended she was making them play a game so she sat them on the dance floor, then pretended that her mic stopped working. Her boyfriend rushed over to "help her with the mic" and music came on and they started dancing in formation. Then the bride's and groom's parents joined in, then some extended family, then bridesmaids and groomsmen. It was fun, and the dance got simpler as more people were added so hopefully it wasn't obvious when someone missed a step.

ETA: I was a bridesmaid so I don't know what the dance looked like in the end, but it looked good while I was watching it.

I was at a wedding where MOH surprised the bride with one. She had sent YouTube tutorial to all female guests so we joined in waves - bridal party first then as each song changed the dance got more simple so more and more couple join. It was SO much fun and the bride loved it. Good luck!!!!

I was in one for a friend's wedding! It was fun, but my advice is to make sure that you do it pretty early in the night. We all had the choreography down pretty well, but after several drinks, it didn't look quite as nice as it could have. Smiley winking

We learned the dance via emailed videos too. The bride's sister choreographed it all and she and her bf filmed themselves doing it and breaking it down step by step. I should have practiced more than I did, but I still got the simple moves in the wave I was a part of.

@Anna, yes, we are doing it right after dinner. We also filmed our rehearsal yesterday and sent the video and wrote down steps and counts to all my relatives that are attending. Smiley smile

I went to a wedding where the bride was a part-time, professional vocalist. A number of her fellow church choir members were there and they surprised her with a mini-flash mob song, after their first kiss. There was no dancing. They used a one of her favorite Broadway show tunes, from a musical in which she had once been in the cast. It was really good; i.e. one of the men had done graduate study at Juilliard.
