Flameless Candles

Megan, on May 29, 2018 at 9:52 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13

Hello! I am looking into flameless tea lights and flameless pillar candles for our reception venue. Does anyone have any experience with using these and recommend a certain place to get them? I am looking for white and unscented. I would prefer a warm glow vs. the LED/blueish color.

Hi Megan! I would honestly check out Amazon or a local arts and crafts store. What else is on your to-do list?

I see a ton of these for sale that are used from old weddings. I'd check Facebook resale groups for good deals!

Heyyy I would look on amazon or even home goods or target. But amazon would probably be best if you need a lot of them

I searched high and low for these and found Amazon had the best prices. I bought and are putting these in our gold mercury glass votives. I like that they flicker and I won't have to worry about fire or wax getting on our linen rentals!

Then for our clear votive holders I am going to put LED votives with the black wick since I think they look more realistic in clear glass.

The only real candles we will have will be on our sweetheart table....we own the linen and if I knock them over I feel better about it than a guest I guess.

Thanks for the suggestion! I was acutally looking into these ones. Have you personally used these ones? I was trying to get a concensus from the reviews as to what color of light they would give off, given that they seem to have a clear looking flame.

    Angie B,

Thanks! Have you tried the tea lights in that link??? I would love to hear from someone who has actually used it vs. a random Amazon review I could read. Our venue doesn't allow open flames so I want to make sure I get some that look realistic and give off enough light to notice them. I am putting the tea lights into mercury glass votives (silver though) too! If you tried them, what do you think of their color and does the battery last?

Yes those are the ones I bought, 2 of them so 48 lights. The flame is a softer plastic and when on they flicker. I think they look great in the mercury glass but I didn't like they way they look in the clear since they are so clearly fake which is why we'll do more realistic ones on those. They came with the battery in and I've only tried a couple (will test them all soon) so not sure how long they last but from the reviews it's something like 72 hours without dying so i'm not too worried about lasting through the reception!

Are you putting on your reception tables? We are doing small bouquets in the center and then votives scattered on the table and I keep going back and forth with how many to put on the tables. I'm thinking 2 mercury glass and 3 clear (they're cheaper haha) and then a few here and there on the dessert table, cards and gifts table and outdoor cocktail tables.

    Angie B,

That is pretty much exactly what I am thinking of doing for my reception tables! I am going to have round tables with the small bouquets and the scattered votives (probably like 4 or 5 per table) and then the long rectangle tables I am doing greenery garland with the votives interspersed (probably like 4 or 5 there too). So thank you for all the information. and FYI, I am sure you already priced around but I am getting my votives from quickcandles.com. You might want to check it out if you haven't already. They are pretty cheap compared to what I have found so far. They have 72 of the mercury glass for $49.99 in a few different colors!

Ohhh that is SUCH a good deal! I bought 24 on Amazon for $36.50 so I'm definitely going to order the ones on Quick Candles and then return the others...plus it then eliminates the need to have clear votives, and therefore the more realistic LED candles. THANK YOU so much!!! Then with the LED's I did buy we're looking at $80 all in. I like it!!!

I'm using LED flameless candles for my entire reception. I found the nice big ones at the thrift store (Value Village) believe it or not. Many of them were store returns, some were still in the box and I got them for pennies on the dollar.

Honestly you can get them about anywhere. I have several that are used around the house, they all can from the Dollar Tree, and work excellently, even for regular use.
