First Valentines Day--I am stuck

Mallory, on January 25, 2012 at 11:08 AM Posted in Married Life 0 15

So, I have abosolutely NO idea...what to get my dear sweet kind DH...AT ALL. See, we never really did valentines day gifts...last year we were saving for the wedding, the year before that we had just moved in together and i knew he was savings for my ring, and then the year before that we just...idk were still kind of a 'new' relationship so we just took each other out on two seperate dates as our gifts to eahc other. THis is our first year married and I want to make it special! any suggestions? **also..recently my Hubby has given me the opportunity to quit one of my jobs so I can go fulltime in my masters program and only work 20 hours a week...so I kind of wanted to also get him a seperate 'thank you for giving me this chance' gift...he NEVER spends money on himself so I was going to buy him contd

Maybe give him a year of dates??

Take 12 large envelopes ... on each one, write the month, so start with Feb 2012, next March 2012 and so on until you get to Jan 2013.

In each envelope you will put a date night in it...whether it's a nice candle-lit dinner at home, or movies...or something you know he's always wanted to do...if you decide movies, go get a gift card and stick it into the envelope...each date you decide on, write a letter as to why you decided to go with that date for that month...for instance...I got my husband a gift cards good for 2 ski passes to go this March together...then I wrote about why I decided to choose this as the date.

Anyway, I'm going off on a tangent...on the 1st of each month, together, open up the envelope...let him read it and then look at a calender together and decide which day that month you will plan that date night. Smiley smile

I found the awesome idea on Pinterest!

Thanks Future Mrs. K! Smiley smile

It took some time to plan, as I wanted to also include brochures and other things that had to do with the date, in the envelopes to give it more of an 'eye appeal' effect Smiley smile

I honestly love it. I think I am going to steal it! lol the possiblites are like endless. Now did you purchase the tickets for all the things already? (like say...a trip to the museum) or just the brochures?

Cydney that is one of the cutest ideas I've ever heard. Smiley smile

If someone was going all out, that would actually be a super amazing wedding gift too. Sending the newlyweds on a date once a month for the first year of marriage? Heck ya!

My FH always likes the V-day standby of a very nice bottle of liquor, topped with lingerie that's tied into a bow. Smiley smile Not quite as romantic as Cydney's idea but effective. Smiley smile

Mallory...I purchased something for the date...like the gift cards for skiing together. Or I did a movie night, b/c we never go to the movies...so I purchased a $20 gift card to cover the expense of the movie tickets and then a $25 gift card to our favorite restaurant right around the corner from the theater...I also included a menu from the restaurant, even though we go there a lot...just to give it some extra excitement!

I made sure at least 1 thing in each envelope was paid for.

So if you're thinking a trip to the museum...I'd purchase a gift card and then grab some brochures Smiley smile

@Kris...I may just use this for my friend who is getting married...even though she's not getting married until 2013! LOL

I love that idea! so cute! FH and I enjoy celebrating Valentine's day, but not going all out for it and it's become a sort of tradition and even though we both pretty much know what we are getting from each other it is still fun, but I usually get him a card, his favorite candy, and some silky boxer's Smiley winking and then he gets me a card a stuffed animal n flowers then we take each other to dinner and a movie and present him with some new lingerie Smiley laugh
