First time trying on dresses tomorrow!

Know what you want, but be open to different silhouettes and styles. Take your time deciding and don't let anyone rush you! While the opinions of your entourage should be considered, it's your decision alone! It's totally okay if you don't cry when you find the one - I was just super thrilled. Enjoy the experience

1) bring water, 2) tell the consultant your budget range, 3) bring photos of dresses you like or some ideas you like, 4) be willing to try different styles, 5) take pics to see how they photograph, 6) have fun!

Like what other comments said, be open to trying different styles. You may never know what you'd end up liking and what would look better on you than you think.
Personally for me, I also like to advise people not to confine themselves to a category. I've said before to people don't think of a dress as "bridal dress" or "bridesmaid dress" or "mother of the bride dress" or "prom dress" or whatever category because at the end of the day those are just categories of dresses - if ya go around and see a dress you like then so be it, whatever category ya found it in doesn't matter.

Stick with with your budget!!!

Have an idea where you would like to start as far as style, but if consultant suggests something for sure try it on. They know their inventory! When I went to my first and only appointment I told the consultant that I didn't really like lace and ended up buying a full lace dress because it looked so beautiful on me!

Don't forget about alteration costs. Find out how much they cost on average in the store and factor it into your budget.

Don't worry if the first place you go doesn't have what you want. My friend took me, her mom, and grandma to about 4 stores before she found something she liked. It was worth it because she looked gorgeous on her wedding day!
