First time dress shopping and thoughts

Today was my first trip dress shopping. While none of those are my dress, and I didn’t find THE ONE today, I did have some things I took away that I thought I would share
1) go and look at shapes of dresses without trying to find the one. That is what today was about for me and I’m SO glad I did. I found shapes I didn’t like and now I can focus on details of the shapes I do like
2) let everyone in your party choose one dress within your budget. It made my grandma feel much more involved, even if she knew I wouldn’t like it
3) as much as everyone will tell you it’s your day, other people’s opinions most likely will matter to you. They do to me. So if you find a dress you love and others don’t, walk away. Maybe you won’t love it as much as you thought. Or maybe you will and it will verify your feelings. But think on it if you’re on the fence. There’s too many stories of dress regret to risk it!

I like the three that I posted pictures of. They’re all so different. I don’t like ball gowns , satin fabric, mermaid or tight skirts around my legs. I also don’t like the look of dresses that are too tight around the middle and show my belly button (weird I know)

Those are all pretty on you, and so different. Crepe can be challenging for the reasons you mentioned---it shows every line, wrinkle and yes, probably a belly button. Smiley tongue

Those are all so pretty. The first dress you posted was my dream dress when I was shopping online. When I finally got to try it on I was bummed because it didn’t look good on me. However it looks gorgeous on you.

You look fantastic in all three of those dresses. I definitely agree that trying on dresses can be a huge eye opener. When I went to look at dresses I mostly wanted to get an idea of different colors, fabrics, cuts, and styles. I ended up getting my dress from StillWhite, but I'm really glad I tried other dresses on first because it made me love the dress I ended up with so much more.

I love the first dress on you. Try not to let other people’s opinions sway what you love. Good luck!!

I tried on that first dress too! It's kind of gray/blueish tinted right? It looks great in you! I went shopping with my mom, sister, and FMIL and it is a lot of opinions haha! I ended up going by myself on my lunch break last week and bought my dress by myself. I sent everyone pictures but it was kinda nice to not have them there nitpicking things!

It’s actually all ivory, but it might come in different colors. Congrats on finding your dress!
