first spray-tan next week.. nervous...

LaurenVictoria, on July 11, 2013 at 12:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I'm getting it done now so I can see if I like it for the wedding. When I spoke to the girl at the spa/salon she said they have disposable paper underwear and most people go topless. Ummm.. I'm kind of modest. Would it be dumb to wear an old bikini -- the bandeu kind with no straps? Also any other advice? I know I'm supposed to exfoliate beforehand, and no lotions.

I've done the spray tans at Hollywood Tans before (machine), but never had a person do it. Exfoliate beforehand and I would recommend using lotion a few days prior on any dry areas. Anything you wear you should wash immediately or it will stain. Make sure the bathing suit lines won't show with the neckline of your dress.

I think it's fine to wear an old bikini if you don't care about lines in that shape. Also, I don't know if it was just my skin type, but I look AWEFUL right after a spray tan. Like a really gross grey color for about a day. But after a shower the next day it looks good. I would just suggests not making plans to see anyone right after haha. And like Allyson said, exfoliate before and wash clothes after

Lol. we'll see. maybe i'll be brave.

i like to lay out too but my schedule is crazy this summer and i barely have time. But i've discovered maui babe lotion so luckily the times i actually get to lay outside are super-productive.

@ Rev. Ann -- luckily I have it scheduled for a Thursday - and I'm off that friday through sunday. If I look awful, I won't have to go anywhere..

@Sarah you mentioned the next day the tan looked better. I was just wondering, how long does it take in general for a spray tan to "calm down"? A day? I've heard that right after it looks really obvious but after awhile it'll look a bit more natural, but am not sure how long this normally takes. I have my appointment for the wedding scheduled on that friday morning and the wedding is sunday at 4:30..

St.Tropez is an amazing self tan lotion. I use it every summer. I would recommend doing you spray tan at least 2 days before any event you want to be tan for. Like the other ladies said, be sure to exfoliate! put a barrier cream (lotion) on your knuckles, knees, elbows and toes. That way those parts of your body don't absorb as much DHA. I'm an Irish girl with freckles and reddish/blonde hair so I know all about them self tanners lol.

My MOH works at a spa and she is one of the people who do the spray tans on people. Luckily, she will do it for me and I don't have get all nakie in front of a stranger while they spray stuff on my boobies lol.

Mine was fine after a shower the next day but I liked it best two or three days after. I just prefer it to be on the lighter side.

If you need to, take a shot before you go in...tan boobs would be an awesome surprise to the FH for your honeymoon. Also, my sister gets these all of the time--DRINK A LOT OF WATER the days prior to going.

Are you doing Mystic Tan or an airbrush tan? Mystic can look orangey and you do the lotion applying etc yourself so much more room for error- an airbrush ran is THE BOMB! And usually not much more! Wear lose fitting dark clothes, don't wash your hands until x hours later! I wear a black strapless bra and black panties when I spray tan, then just change and throw those in the washer when I get home!

    Thanks everyone for the advice!

@Maggie B I'm doing an airbrush tan Smiley smile And apparently, it's organic ,whatever difference that makes.

The place I'm getting it done is also where I'm getting my hair and makeup done for the wedding, and I have also just started going there for my regular hair cut and color appointments. I trust them.

I just don't really want to be naked in front of strangers lol.

Although... they always give me alcoholic beverages when I'm there! First appt I got a glass of wine, second one I got a mimosa! So maybe they'll just have to liquor me up first.

I went to a spray tan party once at a friends house and went topless with my underwear. Those pple don't care what u look like they are just doing their job. To me, my spray tan looked good that day and the day after. After that, you started to notice the areas that were streaky or blotchy etc. they have you put a special lotion on first between your tours, feet and hands to prevent the orange weird look but it still came out that way after 2 days. I did it once, would I pay for it again...no. Ill stick to the beds or outside sunlight. Oh and yes exfoliate first a couple times at least

I had my first spray tan last year done by a girl and she said most people don't wear anything. My response, "isn't that awkward?" Haha it was weird at first, but my tan looked good!
