First look?

Brenda, on November 14, 2019 at 12:16 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had an experience with a first look with your groom before the wedding. I want to know, did you regret it? Did you love it? Did it take away from his reaction when he saw you walking down the aisle? I think thats my biggest fear! I want him to see me walking down the aisle and be blown away.

Daughter and SIL LOVED their first look, and he still got teary-eyed when she and her dad appeared in the doorway to walk down the aisle. They thought there were SO many benefits to first look and they had no regrets.

We did a first look, we both cried and had such an emotional moment for a few minutes. I would have hated for that to have been stifled if we first saw each other in the church. It made the rest of the day feel more relaxed and I could enjoy each moment instead of being nervous the whole time.

Not a fan of them, but i'd never tell another bride what to do. We're just on the more traditional side and wanted our first view of each other to be in front of our family and friends. We didn't want to take that away from them.

We did it and have zero regrets. It didn’t take away any emotion from walking down the aisle and we both bawled as I walked down.

I did it mostly because I needed logistically to get my photos out of the way first. I don't regret it. I feel like we were able to have time to do everything else that needed to be and it didn't ruin my walk down the aisle

I think this is a "trend" that is here to stay because it makes sense for a lot of reasons. That said, it still comes down to personal preference.

The first time your FS sees you will be the first time, and therefore special, no matter how or where it takes place. So I think the question to ask yourself and your partner is where do you want that first look to take place? Alone in an intimate setting or in front of all your guests? There are no wrong answers, so it will depend on what is important to the people getting married.

I will also say that I haven't actually seen anyone regret choosing to do a first look. But since no one can do it both ways, there's really no way to "test" this. Smiley smile

This is pretty much exactly what I was going to say hahaha. No judgement to anyone else for doing what works best for them, but personally I wouldn’t have given up that special aisle-moment for anything! We invited our family and friends because we WANTED to share this with them 🤷🏻‍♀️

We did it and so glad we did. We got to share that moment with just the two of us and it was so special. I have to say that it also didn’t take away from him seeing me walk down the aisle with my son. He was still crying. The best part is that we got to spend more time with our guests.

We did it. No regrets. H cried at during the first look and still got teary eyed when I walked in. It was honestly one of the best parts of our day because we got to spend time together without anyone else (but the photographer around.

My wife and I chose a first look and it was absolutely perfect. We had time to see each other and share a quiet moment with laughter and happy tears. It took absolutely nothing away from walking down the aisle or the ceremony. Ultimately it is up to you and your fiancé, but we were so happy with ours.

We did a first look and loved it! It was such a special moment between just the two of us. We have talked about our favorite part of our wedding and both agree it was our first look. It did not take away from the excitement and emotion of walking down the aisle to one another at all. The first look is seeing each other, for the first time, all dressed up on your wedding day. Walking down the aisle is a completely different experience because you are walking down to the person who is about to be your spouse. To me, it was a totally different feeling and we were both, again, totally overcome with emotion.

First looks also logistically make sense.

Did it. Loved it. Favorite photos, alone moments together before ceremony, more time with guests during cocktail hour.
