Who has done or is doing a first look? Also, if you decided not to do one why or why not and do you regret not doing one? If you are doing one or have done it are you happy you did? Pros and cons?

FH and I discussed it but we won't be doing one. He said he wants to be surprised the first time he sees me walking down the aisle.

We decided not to do one. I thought he was game and he basically shot down all my hopes and dreams to get our pictures done and out of the way. He said he wants to to see me the first time at the alter. So I happily agreed.

We did one. My husband really wanted to do one and he was upset I was going to do a first look with my dad. I was upset because he wanted our moms to walk down the aisle together. I didn't like this idea nor did the moms. So in order to compromise, I had the first look with my dad then a first look with my husband and my brother escorted my mom and his brother escorted his mom. Our brothers were in the wedding (mine was a bride's man and his was a groomsman) so after the moms were seated they looped back around to walk down the aisle with the bridesmaid/groomswoman they were paired with. Although I didn't really want to do a first look, it helped with my anxiousness and it was nice to get the time to ourselves.

I plan on doing a first look with my father I want to have that special moment with me and my dad I'm a daddy a girl and always have been! I feel like it will be more special with my dad than my hubby cause hes the first man I've ever loved and nothing is like a parents love for their child especially a father for a daughter! that's why I decided onto do one with him.

Maybe with my big bro but not with my FH. I want him to be surprised plus knowing him he would not be into a first look lol. Let's hope he's up for pictures ha ha.

I just love all of these brides doing “first looks” with their fathers. I plan on doing this as well. FH and I decided not to do a first look. (Well, HE decided lol) He wants the first time he sees me to be when I walk down the aisle. He has had very few requests during this process, so I absolutely had to honor that one. Plus, I love how romantic

My fiance doesn't want to do a first look. He wants the first time he sees me to be walking down the aisle to him. We're doing a first touch instead.

We didn’t do one and I am SO glad. I didn’t want to risk anything detracting from the moment he sees me walking down the aisle (seriously, look at this face!!!) I know plenty of people who did first looks say that it didn’t detract from the emotion of walking down the aisle but really, no one can say that for sure because no one has ever done it BOTH ways lol, and possibly losing even a fraction of the amazingness of seeing this reaction at the ceremony was never something I was willing to risk!

Also, I was never able to get on board with the logic of “it’s nice to have a private moment together when you see each other dressed up before the ceremony” because really, if you wanted a “private” moment then you should’ve eloped lol. We WANTED our guests to share in this special moment with us... that’s why we invited them!

This is totally not to criticize anyone who does a first look, I mean to each their own and I do see the perks of getting more photos before the ceremony (though, we got more than enough photos anyway!) but this is just my opinion and why we decided not to 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, another relevant factor is we had a 12pm wedding and actually part of the reason for that is so we didn’t have to do a first look 😂 if you’re having a late afternoon or evening wedding I understand wanting to get your photos done earlier in the day, but since I knew we didn’t want to do a first look I made sure our wedding was early so it wasn’t like we were missing too much of the day before seeing each other. I’m doing a first look because I want some pictures taken in our city. Our ceremony and reception are at the same place about 30 minutes away from the city so I don’t want to leave the venue to go take pictures. Every photographer I’ve talked to has told me it’s a great idea because they are able to get a lot more intimate photos of the bride and groom together!

We’re doing a first look! We kind of have to to be able to get all of our photos in and due to location. We’re in the same boat as Erin where our ceremony and reception are in the same place, and we want city shots (there’s not much to photograph near our location). I’ll probably end up doing a first look with my dad too Smiley smile

We did one! we wanted to mainly to share that moment alone together .. but also that way we could finish all family and bridal party photos before the ceremony. doing this allowed us to enjoy cocktail hour with all family and friends instead of being gone taking pics.

We didn't do one, I'm happy we didn't. The moment I walked down the aisle was such a huge beautiful moment for my husband and for me. We both aren't super emotional people though, so we didn't have to worry about sobbing when we saw each other or anything. We did miss the cocktail hour to take pictures but we were okay with that. I did a first look with my dad though, and loved that.
