First Look: Veil or no veil??!

Katie, on July 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
My FH and I are having a “first look” and I am torn if I should wear my veil for the first look or if I should save it for the ceremony?! What did you do? What about pictures with bridesmaids and family?
I should also add that my veil is cathedral length. I LOVE it, and I’m definitely excited for veil pictures, but just unsure about having it in all the first look photos. My hair will be down, so I can try and do both with and without veil? Let me know your thoughts Smiley smile

I did not wear my veil for my first look. After the first look, I wore it until the first dance which was right after cocktail hour. I took it off following the first dance. My veil was floor length. I would consider your timeline and patience lol. People will pull on your veil when they put their arm around you and hug you.

I think no veil would be better. Then you can take some photos with it on too

That’s a great idea to wear it until the first dance! Or else you feel like you don’t get to wear it long enough. I think I may add the veil halfway through the first look and then try to keep it on until the first dance if it isn’t bugging me too much! Lol. I want to wear it and enjoy it!

I'm wearing a cathedral veil and am planning on wearing it for the first look and all the bridal and family pictures! I LOVE my veil and want to wear it as much as I can in pictures. I'm planning on taking it off for the reception so it doesn't get in the way or stepped on, though.

I'm trying to decide if I will wear my veil for our first look. I think it would be nice to, especially since I LOVE my veil, but it might just get in the way. I'm thinking maybe don't wear it at first, then take some pictures with it on as well.

I don’t think I’m going to wear a veil for first look. I’m planning (for now) to just wear it for the ceremony.

I had my cathedral veil custom made and loved it so much! I wore it for my first look and all the pre-ceremony pictures and then removed it after the ceremony to get a few more pictures without it.

I have 2 veils, one cathedral length and the other fingertip. I only had the fingertip then caved and bought a cathedral length lol.
I'm going to wear the fingertip for the first look and cathedral for the ceremony. I'll put back on the fingertip for our introductions and take it off before dinner. Too much, I know lol. All family and wedding party photos will be taken after we do our first look.

Will you take more pictures after the ceremony? I would suggest to go without it for the first look and keep it on for pictures afterwards.

Wow two veils?! That’s awesome! You get the best of both worlds with two different kinds Smiley smile I am SO torn, you’re right I could do the first look without it and then after the ceremony do some more pictures with it.

Thank you! For me, I felt like my veil completed the overall bridal look and added that bit of romance and drama to the look that I wanted present at the first look.

Whatever you decide, your pictures will come out great and the moment will still be beautiful!
You can always bring your veil along with you and decide last minute if you'd like to put it on for some of the first look photos.

I wore my veil to the first look. We also did the majority of the pictures with the bridal party at that time.
