First kiss

Kia9, on March 7, 2017 at 4:12 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

How are you "preparing" (or not) for your first kiss when the officiant announces you as spouses? Do you plan to practice? Is tongue off limits? I love kissing my man, but the thought of anything more than a clandestine peck in front of my family and friends makes me cringe.

No tongue. If it makes you feel cringey it'll probably be the same for your guests.

Lol we practiced. The idea of awkwardly kissing each other in front of family and friends definitely crossed my mind before hand so we practiced. It was pretty hilarious b/c we are both kind of awkward but it all worked out.

@Vanessa I was totally thinking the same thing! I love that movie!

Definitely think tongue would be in poor taste in front of friends and family

Church tongue! Lol! I could care less who sees it. It's my first kiss as a married couple and I want it to be more than a peck. A peck is what I give all my friends. HaHa! We'll be practicing because it's fun!

No tongue for us. We'll need to practice in front of the mirror. I want to see how it'll look for pics too. Do I look better if I go left or right lol. He has big lips and I have chicken lips so I don't want him to look like he's eating me either haha. I'm all self conscious about this

Believe me, I think tongue is too far; however, that hasn't stopped some people from going all in (no pun intended).

A friend and I were talking about this lol. She said she and her husband did "two smacks." Definitely no tongue. Too much lol.

Practice how you're going to kiss! I've seen so many pictures where the bride's elbows are awkwardly sticking out or something like that.

I remind all my couples they only get one chance to get a picture of their first kiss as husband and wife. With that in mind, hold that kiss! Hold it, hold it, hold it. Break while still hugging then move back in for one more short kiss. Your photographer will appreciate this and so will you when the pictures come out. Best wishes!

P.S. I recommend your officiant move out of the shot before the big smooch.

I remember being a flower girl at my sisters wedding when I was 7 and she and my brother in law making out full tongue as the 'first kiss' and being so O___O lol so I think we'll keep it simple

No tongue! But it will be a sweet romantic kiss. I have heard you should hold it for 3 to 5 seconds

Our families were present at our engagement, and we definitely kissed in a wedding ceremony kind of way just fine. I think it helped that, I for one, was totally surprised, and the kiss was sort of spontaneous. No tongue.

ETA: To actually answer your question...because of this, I'm not worried about practicing or thinking too hard about it.

Mmm. Maybe like a long (when I say long, I mean like 3-5 seconds) kiss on the lips without tongue
