first introduction if NOT changing name?

Sarah, on May 29, 2017 at 10:50 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I have gone back and forth on this for a while, and I think I've finally decided that I'm not going to be changing my last name after the wedding... but with that said, at the end of the ceremony, and when introduced at the reception, what would the officiant/MC say to introduce us? I'm so used to "for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. ____"...

"For the first time as a married couple, Mr. (HIS LAST NAME) and Mrs. (MY LAST NAME)"? (I don't love this)

"For the first time as Mr. and Mrs... (MY FIRST NAME) and (HIS FIRST NAME)"? (feels not formal enough?)

Thoughts?

I think for us we just had "The lovely couple, Name and Name"

I don't think we used last names.

First, this is a public forum and you've made it easy for the creepers that lurk in the shadows to find personal info on you.

Second, just be introduced as "the happy couple" or "the newlyweds"

Don't worry about formality - this is a party and everyone knows you there... I like La Grosera's ideas. I am changing my last name but we are still not doing Mr. and Mrs. [LAST NAME] as it feels too stuffy for us.

I'm not in this situation, but if I were I think I'd have them say our first names only: "Please welcome, for the first time as husband and wife, John and Jane!"

We didn't do a name announcement, at the end of the ceremony. I've been a wedding vocalist for years, and I never liked it. It always seems the officiant changes the tone of his voice, to circus ringmaster "And now in the center ring, for the first time in public, I introduce to you Mrs. Jumbo and her son Dumbo!"

For the bridal party entrance at the reception, we just used first names for everyone.
