First fitting - Sewing cups into dress?

spoopy, on August 5, 2017 at 9:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Hi everyone! I'm looking for people with similar experiences to mine. I have a gorgeous dress that has a corset back, so I didn't think that I would want a bra. However, the seamstress recommended that I do have some sort of support for the "ladies" because dresses can be heavy and everything won't stay in place 100 percent.

Has anyone ever (instead of wearing a strapless bra under the dress) actually had their cups sewn onto the inside of the dress? If so, did that work for support? Kind of like a built in bra, I'm assuming?

Any help is great, thank you.

Mine also has a corset back. When I went in to buy my dress the consultant put me in a strapless corset under the dress and it was so ridiculously comfortable (I know I probably sound insane saying that) so I'll be buying a corset to go under my dress.

My seamstress said that the cups being sewn into the dress and to the sides to add support should work well. But what you described sounds incredibly hot. I tried to use spanx during my fitting and I felt like I was in a sauna.

Yes, I did, and it was so nice not having to worry about anything showing/dress falling/or not having support.

The seamstress is sewing the cups into my dress. They seem like they will work the day of the wedding for support.

I did and they held my 34DDs just fine. I would think yours should work even better than mine did since you have a corset! Mine was totally backless

Yep, cups sewn in. I'm a 32C and it was very comfortable - I loathe and detest strapless bras so it was a much better option. The other thing I've seen done rather than just cups is an underwire strapless bra with the back straps cut off sewn in - it has a little more structure and support than just cups.
