First fitting... Feeling underwhelmed

To be fair, I wasn't super excited about my dress when I first picked it. I felt like a bride, but there wasn't a wow moment. It was the nicest dress and the one I felt best in all day. I thought the proper size and it being MY dress would make a difference today, but I still feel underwhelmed. I know it's a beautiful dress and I'll look wonderful on my wedding day all done up, but I don't have that excitement like "Wow this is my wedding dress." Anyone else go through this?

You chose a beautiful dress!! I am totally going through this right now. I bought my dress Saturday and I'm already having second thoughts. I was thinking of maybe getting another dress for the last few hours of the reception. Is that an option for you?

I LOVE that dress on you! Would maybe a blingy belt or great head piece you love change your mind?

Carpsfern, I'm not sure if you're suggesting the dress is too young for me or too old for me? Lol. But I thought I was looking at appropriate styles for how I feel. What age do I look, and what age is this dress?

Erin, I'm having an intimate dinner, no party/reception, so I can't justify having two dresses. I don't even know what style dress I'd even be looking for! Good luck to you though, if you decide to go for a second dress.

ETA: FutureMrsFink, I do have a headpiece. I wasn't sure about a belt, but that's a good suggestion. I'll do some browsing!

@SoonToBe.MrsP No no no no that's not what I was suggesting at all lol, I honestly can't see you very well in that picture, and even if I could see, I'm terrible at aging people anyways. You said you felt like a bride but there wasn't a wow moment. I felt the same way in my dress and I know that a huge part of that was because I thought the dress was too mature for me. I thought maybe you were feeling a similar disconnect with your dress

Lol, I was just curious! I didn't really think the dress looked particularly old or young. I know I look young (I pretty much haven't changed since I was 18), but I thought the dress, and all the dresses my stylist pulled, were comfortable in the maturity and style I wanted.

I'm not too sure where the disconnect is coming from. It has all the elements I wanted in a dress. My second fitting is next month and I'll be bringing more of the accessories and personalisation so I can better see me as a bride. Hopefully that will help!

It really doesn't look old or young, but compared to prom dresses, wedding dresses are definitely on a whole different level. That's a good idea though, I'll try bringing my accessories to my fitting too. Thanks for making this thread though, it's nice to know I'm not alone and I'm not just being a picky brat lol

You look gorgeous in that dress!! I'm sorry if you are feeling a bit of remorse, but I encourage you to go get your hair trial and then come back to try it on Smiley smile

Oh my gosh-you're dress is beautiful!! I totally understand how you feel though. I picked out my dress 7 months ago, (haven't tried it on since-waiting to get shoes) and I'm doubting myself because it has absolutely no lace. I tried lace dresses but really wasn't a fan of them. But now I'm wondering if my dress is too plain. I think I'll spruce it up with some accessories and hopefully I will love it on the big day Smiley smile

I felt this way too, picked my dress just yesterday and after I ordered it and left the salon I was overwhelmed that I had chosen too quickly. My dress is beautiful and I look great but I was just nervous. I think your dress is beautiful! If it makes u feel like a beautiful bride, then it's the one!

@SoontoBe: I was reading about this yesterday and I wanted to share an article I came across - it helped put things in perspective for me while wedding dress shopping. Maybe it will help you with your feelings about your dress.
