First ever appointment and I'm slightly nervous

NM&GD, on November 29, 2019 at 9:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
So, in upstate NY we are expecting a rather large snow storm Sunday into Monday. Monday I have my first ever wedding dress shopping experience with one of my more up front and honest friends. I honestly going to get an idea of what I like and dont like, but I am unbelievably nervous. They have plus sized dresses and what not, but I'm slightly freaking out because I dont want to fine "the one" and be like omg I only have my one friend here and not my mom and soon to be MIL and SIL. Not only that but being "bigger" I've only just become confident in my skin so, what if this knocks my confidence down a notch or more? Good lord is it supposed to be this nerve racking? Should I reschedule due to the storm? It is right down the street from me, just I'm so not ready. What do I do to prepare myself? Help lol

Leave the appointment for now. If it’s really bad, they most likely won’t have any issues canceling more last minute.

The best thing I did while dress shopping was to wear a strapless bra. They were able to clip the sample dresses that didn’t quite fit to it for a more realistic image of what it would look like. Every consultant I had thanked me for it!
I lost about 150 pounds a few years ago and still struggle with my body image (especially some remaining loose skin that I’ve resigned myself to keeping until potentially after kids). Just remember that there will definitely be something you’ll feel beautiful in and you DON’T have to try anything you’re not comfortable with! And if you put something on that’s an absolute “nope,” don’t leave the dressing room with it on. I had a few like that and I truly believe not showing them to my shopping companions helped tremendously with my self confidence.

The biggest thing to remember is that you're gorgeous just as you are, and your future spouse certainly believes you to be the most beautiful woman ever. I had the same fears being a plus sized bride myself, but just like with any clothing....it's the dress that doesn't fit, not you being too big. I went in thinking I wanted something more fitted, but the first one I tried on was the ballgown that I ended up purchasing.

You never know how things will fit until you try them on. Be open to all styles and shapes, especially when you're starting. Also bring water and make sure you eat a decent meal. Those dresses are heavy, and it can be a lot to try to remember all the different parts of a dress you like or didn't. There are a billion dresses out there- find one that makes you feel gorgeous and confident and like a bride. That's all it takes really! Relax and enjoy the shopping. Remember that you're gorgeous, and no dress can take you down!First ever appointment and I'm slightly nervous 1First ever appointment and I'm slightly nervous 2 First ever appointment and I'm slightly nervous 3

So, as of right now we have approximately a foot of snow. The place I was going to go to thankfully texted me and said they are closed due to road conditions. So, we rescheduled.
