First dress fitting... woe me

Oh eck, help I posted a while back when I'd chosen my dress on a whim. This dress was the closest I got to "the feeling". I did the thing - went out looking for tulle and big and ball gown and sparkle, ended up with the opposite. I'd put a deposit on a dress (Stella York 6583) tulle. Then I got...

Oh eck, help Smiley cry I posted a while back when I'd chosen my dress on a whim. This dress was the closest I got to "the feeling". I did the thing - went out looking for tulle and big and ball gown and sparkle, ended up with the opposite.

I'd put a deposit on a dress (Stella York 6583) tulle. Then I got antsy, saw a picture of someone in 6732 (attached said pic) went back, tried it on, and was deciding between those 2. THEN I went to a store my friend had just been to as she said they had SY in bigger sizes to try - I went in the hopes they'd have 6583/6732 - all samples up to this point that I'd tried were too small and deflating, and I was concerned how the cups would turn out on the chosen dress in my size - 20 ...they didn't have either, all was fine, I was essentially playing dress up, and a sales lady asked if I'd try on a satin dress. I was like "meh, not me at all but ok" ...SY 6758

I felt great in it, immediately. I was surprised, it was totally satin, the opposite of everything else

I changed the deposit from 6583 to this satin one [Stella York 6758] ...I've attached said pic of me in the sample which was 3 sizes too big for me and pinned

My first fitting was today. I went on my own as no one else has seen this dress. I did not get any sort of wow factor at all... I was just like "ok yeah this is the dress then". The seamstress stabbed herself taking the dress in (6 inches), and bled on the dress (she's getting it out) ...I'm there like "er this is an omen" in my head. I felt like I'd been such a pain already swapping my dress, so I sucked it up until I left, and sat in my car and cried. My best friend is meeting me tonight to talk to me about it, as I haven't told my FH or anyone else about any of the dress stress

Note; I've spent £1400 on this dress so far, the alterations will be 245. I'm not exactly pleased about the price - it was 1200 in the store I first saw it in. I also disputed the size they were ordering it in, saying I was closer to the next size down - They said it would be took in etc etc/safer... they just didn't say it would be a small fortune

I don't hate it. But I was so set up for this happy feeling I was going to get, looking forward to trying it on, wearing it, the "ooh" as I entered the room - I just don't feel like I'll get any "ooh" in this dress, more like "oh"... *Especially* from my mum

I've hated this entire process tbh. Plus size samples are few and far between, and I feel like I was given the hard sell by the shop I ordered from - forcing me to make a decision in May when I could have given it a few more weeks. I should have risked the deposit and looked around when I went to satin (advice now if you only have a deposit down and feel worry... Don't be pressured!)

In terms of getting another dress - money isn't an issue, but time is. I get married on the 21st December this year ... I really just needed to vent.. ha. Thanks for reading Smiley laugh

*Also note, I tried on my dress today with a hoop so it puffs more than the below pic ...I didn't take any pics today cause you know, I felt so great Smiley amazing

You look absolutely stunning in that satin gown! I personally really like the embellishment, it gives it that extra something!

I think it's beautiful on you!! I would love that dress. I'd put a velvet or satin black sash on it!

This dress is SO SO SO gorgeous. I must say, it makes a HUGE difference seeing it, once it fits. That dress is so beautiful, especially with your tattoos. Just something about that satin+tattoo combo.

I agree with the others I like the Satin dress just needs some blingy belt to go with it and a beautiful smile!
