Had my first ever dress appointment at Pronovias in Boston today. The 4 dresses that I tried on we’re all beautiful and looked really good on me but my experience just kind of sucked.
A few days after I booked my appointment, I received a phone call from someone their asking the standard questions so they could get my appointment ready and pull the dresses that I wanted. I told them 5 specific dresses, the style I want and my price point. She said oh sure no problem will pull those 5 dresses and theyll be ready for you when you get here. I get there and none of my dresses are pulled. The consultant I had seemed like no one even told her any of the details I had provided over the phone. I first walked in and the consultant said OK so you can start here look at the dresses and work your way around and pick out anything you think you like. Never once did she ever ask anything about my budget. I had told her well I have 5 dresses that I mentioned on the phone to try on. She asked me what dresses they were and I told her. They only had 2 out of the five dresses in the store. One of which was way out of my price range, but the consultant got it for me to try on anyway. I had told the lady over the phone that my price point was 4000. The consultant that I had today never once asked me what the budget was at any point. My fault for assuming that she knew, however she didn’t know, but she also never thought it was important to ask me. The two dresses that I tried on I loved but again one was 1000 bucks over. I didn’t want to drive all the way to Boston just to try on 2 dresses so I asked her if she had anything in the back that she could find. She comes out with the complete opposite of what I was asking for. I kept having to repeatedly tell her the details that I wanted including illusion sleeves to cover my tattoos. She kept bringing out sleeveless and I asked her if we could add sleeves to these and she said no we can’t add sleeves to these dresses. I said, oh cause I had specifically asked the girl over the phone if it’s possible to add sleeves to a lot of the dresses, and she said oh yeah pretty much every dress can have sleeves added to it. It was just all very frustrating and I’m just sort of exhausted. In total I tried on four dresses. As I said, they all were beautiful but not what I wanted. Every other dress I had mentioned that I saw on their site was not in their store to try on. It just felt like a waste of time. They also told me I could only bring one guest with me, but there was a person across the way that had two people with her. I was tempted to buy one of the dresses that I tried on, but I just felt like the experience was not how I wanted to remember it and so I’m going to try and other dresses elsewhere.
