Hi all,

We get married on New Years Eve so our ceremony is starting later. What I’m struggling with deciding is when to do our first dance / father/mother dance. I would like to do them all upon our entrance into the reception and get them done with so then we can go say hello to our guests and greet them while dinner is being served and the party can get going right away after people are done eating vs waiting around. Is this okay to do?

You can have them before or after dinner. Your choice.

Totally your choice! We are definitely going right into "dinner" after cocktail hour because we are starting our ceremony at 2 so I feel like most people won't be having a big lunch if any before arriving, and I want to get our guests fed. I also don't want to pay for the caterers to be waiting around during our dances. If your caterer is in-venue that's different, but ours are arriving at 1:30 so the longer we take to get to food, the longer they are on the clock!
