@Cara, we are doing our dance right after introductions before dinner just to get it out of the way. We'll do the father/daughter, mother/son after dinner.

Nice, I was thinking somewhat the same thing as you! Why follow the supposed "traditional" order of events.. I was thinking that we COULD do the first dance just before everyone goes in to sit down.

We are not doing a first look, so our photos together will be just after the ceremony while the guests have their cocktail hour. I am thinking that when we return from the photos we could walk up to the patio and the strings could start the song and we have our first dance then. Also since the DJ should by there by then he could possibly play a piano version with the strings..
