First dance

Is anyone doing a choreographed dance?

I feel like just my fiancé and I dancing to our song is enough. Thoughts?

We did not, but we had friends who did. The bride has been a professional dancer, though...

I would practice, but don't worry about having a fancy, choreographed dance. People don't remotely expect that.

Ours is not truly choreographed, but kind of. We took dance lessons (I am NOT a dancer), and we learned different steps that we could use in our dance, but it's not really choreographed. Definitely practice, but I wouldn't worry about putting together anything choreographed. Like Rebecca said, I don't think people expect that.

It’s completely enough to just dance. I feel like choreographed dances/dance lessons always look like it and don’t feel natural. The couples often look stiff and are too busy counting steps and thinking about the next move. So unless you 2 are very good dancers, I’d avoid the awkwardness and pass on the choreographed dance.

Nothing wrong with swaying naturally with a few dips. I've only seen choreography on YouTube and it looks stiff.

I’m just happy my FH wants a first dance.
He’s never danced with me and the idea of having him do something choreographed just makes me envision how uncomfortable he would be.
So we’re just sticking to basics. 😂

Daughter and SIL "practiced" dancing to their chosen song the night before the wedding so they felt comfortable and could anticipate a couple of simple spins, etc. -- that worked great for them. They looked happy, comfortable & natural. I have been at weddings where the couple attempted something "choreographed" and it was as others have suggested VERY stiff and awkward. Unless you are really good dancers to begin with, I'd just go with your natural dancing style.

We did a choreographed first dance, and probably 10 out of the 15 weddings I’ve been to in the past couple of years had choreographed ones. But that being said, it’s totally not necessary and you shouldn’t feel pressured to do one. My MIL gifted us the dance lesson package, otherwise we wouldn’t have done one. It’s a personal choice and there’s no right or wrong decision
