First dance?

Try dancing to the full song in your living room for practice which will give you an idea. You can always ask the dj to shorten the song which is a very common request.

We didn’t have them shorten it and man we wish we did. The first verse and chorus was great. Then we spent the rest of the song trying to get the attention of the DJ to have him fade it out. That didn’t happen. We eventually just went with and laughed the whole time, lol. It was a typical length song, 3ish minutes.

We are skipping the first dance altogether. But, I can say from a guest perspective, cutting it short is probably a good idea. First dances are really are only fun to watch for about the first 30 secs-1 minute; then it starts to feel awkward and, I’m gonna say it…. Boring. It usually looks as though the couple starts feeling awkward pretty quickly also.

We had the DJ invite guests to join us on the dance floor about 2/3 into our dong! I loved that idea because then he played an amazing party song immediately after ans everyone just stayed on the dance floor!

For the dances we only played the songs after the first chorus

Our song is 4 minutes so not super long to begin, but we'll have a gesture for our bridal party to encourage them onto the dance floor at a certain point, after which everyone is welcome to join.

We stopped for 3-4 minutes, I think it will be enough for us and for the guests.
