First dance?

Pat, on April 7, 2023 at 6:42 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 12
So are you doing a nice, unrehearsed first dance .... or do you plan on wowing your guests with a choreographed piece? (We are old farts, so it's the plain old box step for us. 😄couple-dancing-couple-goals.gif

Haha we just slowly rotated around and made people stare for 3 minutes 😂 we did so much with the consideration of our guests though so for this we just did what we wanted

Wedding isn't until October but honestly I'll probably just do part of a song and sway back and forth. I'm not much of a dancer that anyone would want to watch 😂

I wanted to skip the first dance because I'm not a dancer lol, but my husband loves dancing and REALLY wanted to do a first dance, so we did the "sway around until the song ends" type of first dance. We asked our DJ to only play the first minute of the song, so it wasn't too long.

We practiced how we wanted to start out our dance and a spin in the middle and then how we wanted to end with a dip, but otherwise it was just basically swaying in circles, ours was only the first verse and chorus of the song though.

We just swayed too. We felt like it would be too much pressure to do something choreographed in front of everyone, and also my husband doesn’t really like dancing 😂

We took 3 lessons as our DJ is also a dance instructor. It was originally supposed to be over 5 minutes which I felt was too long. I ended up cutting it to 3 mins the week prior.
    Our guests loved it.

To tell the truth, I‘m not a fan of an over the top choreographed dance production. IMO it’s a wedding, not a stage show. That said, it’s always fun to watch good dancers.

I’ve been in dance since I was a little kid, and FH and I were taking ballroom classes together pre-covid. So we are sooooo excited to get back with one of our former teachers and do something choreographed!

I’ve been dancing since I was 6 and stopped when I graduated high school. I personally would love to go all out for a dance (it’s what I’m used to). My FH, that’s another story. He’s not a dancer at all. He didn’t even want to do a first dance, but now he’s sorta okay with it. I’ll probably do whatever makes him feel comfortable. When it gets closer to our wedding date I might ask him if he would be comfortable taking ballroom dancing classes with me. I don’t even know what my first dance song even is. I kinda want it to be a little up beat because I don’t like any of “the classic” first dance songs.

We're working with dance instructors to choreograph the dance. We love it! It's a date night for us now and something we really look forward to. I expect we'll keep taking lessons after the wedding. I'm also very excited to have a choreographed dance!
