first dance songs????

Ashley Gorman, on January 10, 2010 at 1:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

My fiance is really into hard music, megadeth, metallica, iron maiden etc. and the only thing he has asked of me for the wedding is to have good alcohol no pink and a good first dance song, but he doesnt want country or pop or anything along those lines. But I am having a hard time coming up with something he will like. My friends just got married and used nothing else matters by metallica so thats out, and I love the song thank you by led zeppelin but its a 7 minute song! So any suggestions???

Hey its me lol. we only used nothing else matters at the church so no one would even notice. but its also a 6.5 minute song lol! find a song that means soemthing to the both of you...a favorite song, a song that makes you think of each other etc. As you know since you were there, we used Wonderwall by Oasis.

My fiance and I are dancing to "Ocean" by Hanna-McEuen (rockabilly/country)... I'm sorry I don't think that helps since he said no country!

I love Wonderwall! It sounds like your nice friend doesnt mind if you used nothing else mattersSmiley smile

Are you having a DJ play your wedding? If you are and you really like the Led Zeppelin song they can always shorten the song to fit well for the first dance.

I think I'm going to use "Somebody" by Depeche Mode.

I was going to suggest just shortening the Led Zeppelin song, especially if it's one you like a lot!

Ya I think I might shorten it, or my FH also suggested having the bridal party come up half way threw and dance so we aren't up there for 7 minutes by ourselves, or is that a no no?

If you want to get your bridal party involved within the first dance, then go for it, but most DJs would be able to shorten it if you wanted it to be just you and FH. Good luck!

I am also having the bridal party coming in halfway through our song. I absolutely hate being up in front of a bunch of people. the first dance is gonna be the hardest. We are dancing to you and me by lifehouse.

My fiance and I are into pretty much nothing but rock too, we hard some unusal songs for our wedding but as well as some sweet soft songs. When our wedding party walked into the church, we played "Everlong" by Foo Fighters, then when they walked into the reception, we played "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith. For our first dance we had "Love Song" by 311 and "Angel" by Jack Johnson (that he surprised me with). I also love "Faithfully" by Journey but we had to go with 311 because it's one of our favorite bands and The Cure is my #1 fav so we had to go with LOVE SONG. :-) Good luck and happy planning.

If it were me, I would use the Led Zeppelin song you like. If you are using a DJ, you can tell him when you would like him to fade it out, and I bet many people won't even notice that you didn't use the whole thing. The other thing you could do is use the whole song. At a place of your choosing have the DJ or whoever announce the bridal out to finish the other half of the song. That way it is your first dance and the bridal party dance song. Hope this helps. Smiley smile
