First Dance Song

Anna, on January 17, 2018 at 8:15 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
For our first dance I’m wanting to do “Can I Have This Dance” from High School Musical. My sisters and a few of my friends are supporting the choice. My fiancé says he doesn’t care, but he’s a liar he does want something more for both of us and will probably be okay with this if we don’t find another one. He basically wants me to be happy with it and being as sweet as he is, he will give me whatever I want. I want him happy too. We have still looked at a few other songs. One of which being the overused Ed Sheeran song. I’m wanting something we can both enjoy.
He doesn’t care for country and I don’t want anything overused. He’s into bands like Linkin Park, Saint Asonia, Takig Back Sunday, Breaking Benjamin (I kinda like Ashes of Eden), he’s in love with Falling in Reverse and Escape the Fate. I’m wanting something he might like.

We both enjoy Classic Rock and Hair Bands. I think there may be some good songs, but I need suggestions. I’ll take any suggestions from any genre. Please help.

Say you won't let go, I can't help falling in love (elvis), or surprise your guests and have fun with an upbeat, unexpected, routine dance!

Again, I don’t want cliched or overused songs. Upbeat isn’t what I’m looking for. In my opinion (y’all can do whatever fits your personality and taste) an upbeat song isn’t appropriate unless you’re doing a big dance number. (Like the couple who did the dance from Dirty Dancing.)

I really love the song “Let Me Be” by Escape the Fate! It’s a sweet song&fun to dance to. Off topic but just wanted to say that I’m also a HUGE ETF/FIR fan, I have FIR lyrics tattooed on my ribs.

I would try to find an acoustic version of a song that you really love & speaks to you. Personally I don't think High School Musical is going to resonate 20 years from now but if that's the one you love, go for it.

I know that song is a bit juvenile, but I had choreographed a dance to it for a competition and my duet won First Overall. It was the first duet I done and meant a lot to me. Plus, it was suggested by a few people when we were discussing songs. Lmao.
