First Dance Song

Shavonne, on April 4, 2017 at 10:12 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

This may be the stupidest question ever asked... So FH and I heard the song "perfect" by ed sheeran the other day and absolutely fell in love with it. It talks about his love for this girl and how they are best friends since they were kids (we met in 5th grade and have been together ever since) and loved the song. But also a lot of the song he is saying how she is beautiful and perfect and I just feel like if we make that our first dance song everyone will think that it's a bit concieted. Idk. Im probably overthinking this waaay too much but ill post the lyrics below.

I found a love for me

Darling, just dive right in and follow my lead

Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet

Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me

'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love

Not knowing what it was

I will not give you up this time

But darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own

And in your eyes, you're holding mine

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark with you between my arm

I found a love for me

Darling, just dive right in and follow my lead

Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet

Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me

'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love

    Not knowing what it was

I will not give you up this time

But darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own

And in your eyes, you're holding mine

    [Chorus]

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark with you between my arms

Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song

When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath

But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight

    [Verse 2]

Well I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know

She shares my dreams, I hope that someday I'll share her home

I found a love, to carry more than just my secrets

To carry love, to carry children of our own

We are still kids, but we're so in love

    Fighting against all odds

I know we'll be alright this time

    Darling, just hold my hand

Be my girl, I'll be your man

I see my future in your eyes

    [Chorus 2]

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark, with you between my arms

Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song

When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful

I don't deserve this, darling, you look perfect tonight

    [Instrumental]

    [Chorus 3]

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark, with you between my arms

Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song

I have faith in what I see

Now I know I have met an angel in person

    And she looks perfect

    I don't deserve this

    You look perfect tonight

I don't think it would be considered conceited. My FH picked "Tenerife Sea" by Ed Sheeran as the song I walked down the aisle and the first words are "You look so wonderful in your dress, I like your hair like that..." and then just sings about being in love. I would feel weird choosing it for myself, but since it was what he wanted I went with it. (And it's just a beautiful song and I love Ed Sheerans music)

Honestly I highly doubt anyone will be paying attention to the lyrics. If you like it then go for it Smiley smile

I think it's perfect!!! Ultimately it's your wedding so you do what makes you happy! I highly doubt someone will have anything negative to say about it.
