So FH and I decided on REO speedwagon “keep on loving you” for our first dance, we wanted something you don’t hear often and he loves 80’s music. However the first 30-60 seconds of the song it talks about how she’s a snake and sleeps around essentially, but in better words lol. My question is, do you think people will pick that up or people just pay attention to the main lyrics and us dancing? I really love the song but I’m concerned how it comes off 🤦🏼‍♀️

People who know the song will probably sing along, so if it's a concern to you, maybe just have your DJ start it at the 2nd verse.

I remember that song very well!!! I was in high school when it hit big - and it was BIG. He found out about an affair she had BEFORE they were married, not that she was a slutty puppy. So.....you could go either way. I love the song, still like to sing along!! I think people will pick up on the love part of the song, no one will be listening that closely.

I do think it's an odd choice for a first dance because I know the song well. People may or may not think any of it. I agreed maybe start in the third verse. The first two are not really appropriate for a first dance, and anyone who knows the song would probably thinks its weird.

That song reminds me of the movie "drive me crazy". I think you can dance to whatever song you want. People will most likely only listen to the chorus.

I don't want to come off as a know it all (cause man they bug) but I saw an interview w/Kevin Cronin, he explained it the way I explained it; it made a better song the way he wrote it. I will show myself out to the Annoying Section, now.....lolol!
