Hey Everyone!

I was thinking about doing the first dance after dinner is served this way I can mingle with the guests a bit after being away for a while doing photos... Rather than jumping from photos to first dance and our guests being left to themselves...

Are you doing your first dances before or after dinner?

Thoughts?

🤷🏻‍♀️we didn't need the attention, drama of doing it that way. No introductions for us. Having all eyes on us during the Ceremony was more than enough.

This ^^ As long as you have plenty of appetizers for your guests during cocktail hour, they shouldn't be hangry. We will be doing our first dance right after our introduction.

Hmm. I can't explain the feeling the right way. It's like we didn't need/want that part of introductions, didn't need to be introduced into the reception kind of thing. The sheer thought of it made me uncomfortable.

See I have never done it before. So I was planning to do after as it gets everyone in the mood to start dancing right after.

I'm just going with the flow, the dj more so find the show for timing with music so you could always ask them as well. Just make sure everyone is on the same page so there aren't awkward moments.

After ceremony, our guests were enjoying cocktail hour with appetizers while we were taking photos so after we were done with photos, we were introduced and then did our first dance before dinner. In addition, father/daughter and mother/son dances happened after dinner.

We decided to do first dance right after our grand entrance, but this was based on a lot of reasons that may be exclusive to us. We have a choreographed dance, so I want to get it over with as soon as possible when I was as sober as I was going to be (I don't plan to drink much, but one drink hits me hard). Also, we plan to have both father/daughter and mother/son dances, and I thought having three dances in a row would be annoying for guests to watch. If things were different, we totally would have had all the dancing being at the same time, after we cut the cake and while guests are eating it. The only real requirement is that you need to make sure people are seated and ready to look at you two dance.

We did our first dance as a last dance at the end of the night.

I've seen it done both ways. We waited until after dinner. We didn't do an introduction or some grand entrance so waiting until after dinner made more sense for us.

This Might end up being very Unpopular. We are having a buffet style dinner. I am coming in from my pictures, I am dancing with my husband, then the first dances with the parents. As we are dancing with the parents we are going to open the buffet. That way the guests aren't sitting around doing nothing while we are dancing with our parents and that way we have more time for socializing and partying after dinner.
