First Dance Alternative

Erin, on June 8, 2021 at 10:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
Hello!! My FH and I just talked about how neither of us are comfortable with the first dance portion of the wedding and were just curious if anyone has really fun ideas for an alternatives to a first dance? We will do it if we have to but we were both just talking about how nervous we will be for that and would be open to fun/funny alternatives!

The only thing I can think of is the anniversary dance but in the reserve order so those married longest would sit down first then so wotth and the dance would end with just the two of you left. Otherwise I can't really think of anything to replace it.

A first dance is never required. Are you having dancing the rest of the night and don’t want that spotlight or skipping all dancing period? Talk to your dj about ideas on how to start with just regular dancing. Otherwise guests typically just chat and mingle.

Finding the venue wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. Figuring out the budget & then having to readjust (sticker shock) because we didn’t realize how expensive weddings were was a big one.

We are still doing dancing because we both love music and have a great playlist/ideas for our dj but we were just looking for some fun things to do instead of a first dance to help facilitate people coming to the dance floor! Smiley smile

Ask your dj for their ideas. They get requests for unconventional situations all the time

My friends did a first fight, the husband is a blacksmith and made some swords, the wife is a martial artist and choreographed a fight dance.
I am just skipping it. My husband hates dancing and really doesn't want to do it. My dad is the same way so we are just skipping all those special dances.

You can also just skip it altogether.

If you are hiring a professional DJ, they should have no issue getting people on the dance floor.

Many couples do their couple dances before dinner service, so the transition between food and dancing does not have to be a first dance at all.

You could do first karaoke instead of a dance? Or a silly dance like the Macarena? LOL and then start pulling other people up to join! Like a flash mob! That would be super cute!
