First bridal appointment

Cynthia, on November 8, 2019 at 10:35 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hi all, tomorrow I am going to my first bridal appointment. I am super nervous and excited. I am worried of getting too overwhelmed or not asking the right questions. Any advice on tips for the first bridal appointment?

I went to my first last weekend. Don't over think it. They will ask you a bunch of questions to help see your vision. I tried on about 4 dresses. I fell in love with two of them. Have fun and take lots of pictures to look back on to help you make your final decision

First of all, congrats!!! Secondly, don't worry so much about getting overwhelmed! Make sure you try on a little bit of everything, keep your mind open and don't rule out anything. I almost didn't try on my dress, but I wanted to make sure I ruled out ball gowns. Then I tried it on, and I kind of knew it was the one. It's like any other clothes shopping but a little bit more exciting - you just need to try things on and trust that a dress will make you feel beautiful!

Yay! You're going to have so much fun! Make sure you go in with an open mind and willing to try on all different styles. I already had several dresses in mind that I wanted to try on and a specific designer that I wanted I wear. So that was helpful for my consultant. If you have photos of dresses you love, bring those! And make sure you are very honest with your consultant about the things you love and hate about wedding gowns! Also, do not try on anything over your budget!

Eat a big meal before going, and bring water! You’d be shocked at how exhausting it is. I think I just ate like a granola bar for breakfast before my appointment and didn’t bring any water. After the first hour I felt so exhausted, dizzy, dehydrated, low blood sugar-y 😖 make sure you’re well fed and hydrated!

Also do not try on anything that’s out of your price range. I see so many women on here posting about how they fell in love with a particular dress but it’s out of their budget. Then you either end up spending way more than you can afford on a dress, or you’re disappointed that you didn’t get the dress you love. Do yourself a favor and don’t try on anything (not even “just for fun”) unless you can afford it!

    Have fun Smiley smile

I disagree with the person who suggested eating a big meal... definitely do not want to feel full and bloated before trying dresses on! My advice would be to have an open mind and try on as many different styles as you can. You might be surprised by what you fall in love with! Don’t try on too many dresses during that first appointment because it’s very easy to get overwhelmed. Keep it light and fun. If you start feeling frustrated or confused or overwhelmed, it’s time to stop! Smiley smile Also recommend doing your hair and makeup that day so you feel your best - the first time I tried dresses on, I had my hair in a bun and no makeup and it really affected how I felt I looked in the dresses. Have fun!!!

My #1 piece of advice is tell the bridal consultant your budget, and do not try on any dresses that are over budget. Be open to trying on different styles. Keep in mind it's ok if you don't find your dress at the first appointment, but maybe you will! I told the consultant I would not be purchasing that day, right at the beginning. I found the one I loved, and told her I still wanted to sleep on it. I called and ordered the dress a few days later

It's fun and it's nice having your tribe smile when you come out. You may get a style you never imagined and that's okay. I am in love with my dress and even when I saved it via David's Bridal it was not my top and my first choice silhouette was mermaid but A line for my figure best with no alterations. Let your consultant guide you as well and it's ok if you don't find your dream dress. You may need to see a few stores.
