First Alterations Appointment

Trisha, on July 16, 2020 at 9:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

My Wedding Is October 17th. I Have My Dress Already, I Just Need To Schedule To Get It Altered. My Question is, When Should I Schedule That Appointment? Im Nervous To Have it Done Too Early And Have It Done Too Late.

My seamstress suggested starting alterations at 2 months out, so that's when I had my first appointment.

Alterations should be 6-8 weeks before the wedding 😊

Usually first appointments are done around 8 weeks prior to the wedding. I had my first fitting 10 weeks prior just because the bridal salon finally opened up and wanted to get in before any chance of them closing again. I'd recommend calling soon to schedule your first appointment in the next month or so. They do tend to book up fast!

My wedding is sept 12 2020. I got my first fitting end june and my second fitting will be july 21. I may get to take it home that day.. Point is give at least a month or month and half for alterations or screw ups

My first fitting for my 9/12 wedding was mid-June, and when I called her the week before she was adamant about me coming in ASAP. She plans to have alterations done by mid-August, giving us about three weeks to do any last minute fixes necessary. I’d start calling seamstresses now, I know rush charges can REALLY add up, and many seamstresses in my area are swamped right now with alterations. I do think it’s different if you do it through a salon (maybe 6-8 weeks prior is more appropriate) vs an independent seamstress. Good luck!

I would make your appointment as soon as possible. With covid restrictions changing all the time, you don't want to end up not being able to get it done.

I would check with your seamstress’s schedule and time-frame. Mine said by the end of August to start alterations for early October.

You should schedule now, there's no telling how busy they may be. We started alterations last month for our October wedding and now postponed September stateside reception. The seamstress wanted enough time especially because things were opening back up here after being closed for 3 months. I do another fitting next weekend.

The salon where I got my dress schedules alterations to be done in 3 appointments (one per month) before your wedding date
