First Alterations Appointment Tomorrow!!! I'm anxious!

Lauren, on June 29, 2017 at 5:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

So tomorrow I have my first alterations appt and I am not sure what to expect. I do not have anyone who can go with me so I will be going on my own. I already have my dress at my house, shoes to bring and the sew in bra cups.

I just don't know what to expect...do they pin you in the dress to the size the first day??...how long does the appointment usually last???

My dress was a sample and I literally swim in it so I am anxious and nervous for how much it may cost but I can't wait until it can actually fit me properly!

Mine was a sample and it was two sizes too big and it cost me $500 to take it in two sizes, bustle, add bra cups, sinch in the butt, take in the straps , take in the bust to give me support, and fix the zipper and buttons. It wasn't too bad considering the price of other woman's alterations.

And yes they pin you up the first day, and your second appointing will be re- pinning to make it more fitting, and third appointment will be the hemm if you need it hemmed. Bring in any accessories, shoes, veil that you plan on wearing so you can get an idea of your overall look!

    Good luck!!!!

I went solo to my first appointment and it wasn't bad. I have a ball gown and am short so it required a lot more alterations and time than I had imagined. I think I was there for 1.5 hours. Yes, they should pin you at your first appointment. Don't forget your shoes.

You shouldn't have to bring your cups, they usually do that if you need them. That's a great price. My dress was custom sized, my chest is a lot bigger then my waist so they made it according to my measurements. A huge help otherwise it would have been 4 sizes too big. So I don't need it taken in at all! But my straps, hem, some taking in on the "side boob" area, and bustle it's about. $600 which wasn't bad. She also will steam my veil for free! I never even thought about it. I went alone and I was nervous too. My seamstress was fantastic. Communication is your best key. Move around in it, ask questions and speak up if something doesn't feel right. It's fun, enjoy it.
