Firing a Vendor

Allison, on May 27, 2020 at 9:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

I'm looking for some help on how to go about firing a vendor. My HMUA has been incredibly unresponsive during all of the pandemic rescheduling. I had to postpone my May 2020 wedding to August 2020 and when that happened this vendor did not get back to me until after I had already settled my date. They are still able to do it, fine. Now I have pushed the wedding back to next June (2021). At this point it has already been a week since I notified them about needing to postpone and asking their availability. I am now extremely aggravated because I do not find this professional, and I no longer feel comfortable contracting them for a wedding over a year away. How do I go about letting this vendor go? Additionally, I have already paid them for a portion of what would be due for the day of. How do I ask to be refunded for this considering these services are not rendered? Thanks in advance!

I Honestly Would Give Them Some More Time. They Could Be Struggling With Accommodating Other Clients Too Who Are Rescheduling Or Struggling During This Time Too. Considering You Postponed Again To 2021, You Have Time To Communicate With Them As Well As Find Another Vendor If You Need To.

I would give them chances are they are being extremely hit by this virus and may have been picking up an extra job to stay afloat, relax I would give hmu another 2 weeks and if they are not responsive I would find another hmu however you may have to forfit the deposit due to you canceling on her what does your contract say?

Unfortunately it's already been 3.5 weeks since I first brought up having to move to next year and asking for availability. There was never a formal contract. At this point I've paid deposit + extra. At a minimum I think I would be deserving of getting the money paid less the deposit if I choose to cancel.

If you don't have a contract then most likey you won't get anything back that is why it is always important to have a contract, If it's been 3 weeks I would message her again and then give her another week and if she doesn't respond just move on

Are hair salons and beauty services shut down in your area? If so, it's totally reasonable that your HMUA may not be working or only able to work super limited hours and therefore not getting back to you right away. If they are clearly doing business at this time then I would agree the lack of communication is very unprofessional. However if the salon where your HMUA works is not currently open they may be temporarily furloughed and unable to work, and I would not jump to firing them until they have started up business again.
