Finger Swollen After Getting Engaged

Caitlin, on January 31, 2020 at 3:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

When my FH proposed, my ring fit well. It was securely sung, but still comfortable. I could easily take it off and swirl it around. It's been almost two weeks now, and I noticed that the skin between my ring and knuckle is red and visibly swollen, no matter how cold I am. I'm now having a hard even getting the ring on. It's not irritated under where the ring sits, just between the knuckle and my ring, and I can distinctly feel where the swelling/fat starts and stops when I take off my ring. Has anyone had this happen? The only thing I can think of is that it's too tight or I was sliding it off and on too often and irritated it. I'm on day 3 of it being red and swollen (I take off the ring at night) Thanks for any advice you have!

You can see that where the ring actually sits is not red or swollen.Finger Swollen After Getting Engaged 1Without ringFinger Swollen After Getting Engaged 2Ring onFinger Swollen After Getting Engaged 3

Congrats on your engagement! The only thing I could think of is you're allergic to the material for some reason? I don't know if your finger would swell up that much just from sliding it on and off. I know this is no fun, but maybe try taking it off for a day or two just to see if that helps. Even if it's not an allergic reaction, something is definitely bothering your finger and you should probably hold off on wearing your ring until the swelling subsides. Best of luck!

It could be you need it resized or you can be allergic to the band.

It looks like you’re allergic to the metal.

It does seem to cause some type of reaction. some people are allergic to some types of material in jewelry.

also, in a day to day, you may experience bloating in fingers depending on what you eat. for instance some days my ring is tighter than others.

I agree with the others. It looks like you are having an allergic reaction to the metal in your ring. Leave it off for a couple days and see if the swelling goes down. Once you put it back on if it happens again, you can probably assume you are allergic to your ring. Smiley sad

What material is the ring made of? You’re probably allergic to it!
