RANT.

I am hoping to get married one year from today and have been engaged one month. Venue hunting/research is SO stressing me out right now. It seems like everyone has been engaged for ages who are getting married in 365. I am not going the traditional route (no bridal shower/engagement photos, none of that fluff)...but I do need to find a venue! Tips on how to narrow down ?!?! How did you organize all the options? because right now I feel like I'm just spiraling down a never ending internet search of potentials.... We are also trying to plan a wedding out of state, so just hoping in the car to go see a bunch of venues is not an option.

Another note, we thought about beach wedding with caterer (and there are GREAT caterers out there) but by booking a restaurant, food beverage coordinator & decor are all rolled up in one which ended up being more economical for us than paying a venue fee plus catering plus bar plus plate rental etc.

Do you know yours guest list and budget. That cut out so many guests for us (they wouldn't fit)

OP, I had a really similar experience. We had a 10-month engagement, and it was tough finding venues in that timeframe. We had to get creative and be flexible - our October wedding turned into the first weekend in November, when venues had a LOT more availability and 'low season' pricing.

I was in despair when many of the venues we liked were out of our price range or booked for 18 months, so I started asking everyone we knew (even FH's boss's wife) where they'd gone to lovely weddings and had a great experience as a wedding guest. We had crossed country clubs off our list without thinking twice, assuming they'd be overpriced and stuffy. But when 3 family friends all raved about the food and setting at a local golf club, we visited and fell in love...and it was cheaper than the local barn venues! So seriously, revisit your own ideas about what you want in your wedding. For us, our initial desire for 'rustic' was just a codeword for 'peaceful outdoors setting' and the golf club fits that to a tee.

Get a book and keep track of all you have done and what still need to be done and knock them out one at a time
