Finding a specific dress

Michelle, on May 17, 2020 at 8:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I am trying to locate a specific gown that I have had my eye on for years. I’ve contacted a few different boutiques that carry the designer, but because it’s from several seasons ago, none of them carry the style. Has anyone had any luck locating older dresses? Any tips?

If you don’t mind one that could have already been used, you should check out eBay and Stillwhite. Maybe they’ll have one in your size or a bigger size that you could alter

I originally had my eye on a dress that was a few years old. None of the stores around me had the dress. It wasn't being made anymore, so they couldn't just order it either. I ended up finding one that was very similar to it that I loved even more. Good luck!!

If the designer has discontinued production on the dress, it's unlikely you'll be able to get it from a bridal shop (unless they are selling the sample gown). Your best bet is to probably check on resale sites such as stillwhite.com and preownedweddingdresses.com. Another option is to use that as an inspiration photo for going dress shopping and seeing if you can find something similar. Also, I would keep an open mind. I went into dress shopping thinking I wanted an A-line, more flowy kind of dress, and I ended up falling in love with a body-hugging fit and flare. You just never know! Good luck! I'm sure you'll find the perfect dress for you!

StillWhite, Nearly Newlywed, Preownedweddingdresses, OnceWed, Facebook marketplace, eBay (careful with this though) are all your best options for this. I went down the same road. Good luck!

Would you mind a second hand dress because that may be your best option. Or try smaller boutiques in your area. The popular ones will not have dresses from seasons ago.

Facebook Marketplace. I made the dreaded mistake of falling in love with a dress that is discontinued, so it was really hard to find, but one of my bridesmaids found it for sale (secondhand) on FB!! Try your luck and get your friends involved!

Thank you everyone for the advice! It was confirmed the dress I had my eye on is no longer in production and I couldn’t find one close enough to my size to get alterations. I ended up going to a small bridal store that was absolutely lovely and ended up finding a unique dress that I absolutely love!
