Find Your Seat

Savannah, on September 2, 2019 at 4:43 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

We are getting married in October and I am curious what is most helpful for table seating. Should we have a large chalkboard with all the names on it, or place cards in our entrance, or place cards on the table. Or a combination of the chalkboard and place cards on the table.

If you are just assigning tables and not specific seats (which I recommend) then a chalkboard would be all you need.

We did escort cards at the entrance. Depending on whether dinner is plated, I would also recommend to double-check with your caterer. Ours required a symbol on the escort/place card to indicate which entree the guest should receive for the plated dinner.

An advantage of escort cards is that if there are last minute changes it's really easy to make a couple new cards and be done. Sometimes a large seating chart is difficult to change at the last minute without having to reprint the whole thing.

Place cards are far easier IMO. But if you're set on doing a board - PLEASE organize it by last name alphabetical order and then list the table number next to the name. It's super annoying to have to look through 20 lists because it's organized by table.
