Finally hired a florist!

April, on December 30, 2019 at 6:55 PM Posted in Planning 2 5
I’m excited to have another thing checked off my to do list!! I hired a florist over the weekend and I’m very happy with what has been decided. When initially planning I 100% wanted to DIY the flowers but after some thought and looking at the prices of silk flowers 😳 I decided to meet with a florist and I’m glad I did. We stayed under my budget without too many compromises, I found this idea on Pinterest that I love, single flower bridesmaid bouquets with lots of greenery, my MOHs bouquet will have 3 flowers and I’ll have a traditional bouquet. We may add some ceremony florals as well but will decide that later, anyone else taking a similar route for bouquets?

That is similar to what I wanted, but I wanted more baby's breath. It isn't what I got though. My florist didn't listen to this or to really anything I wanted. Some of my flowers weren't even the right color. We started having issues with her before the wedding and I wanted to fire her, but by then it was too late. I hope your florist is much better. The first photo is what I wanted and the second one was what I got.

That is super frustrating!! I was worried that because of my simple idea she might try to push me into something more extravagant or expensive but she was extremely receptive to all the ideas I had and gave me suggestions based off of what I had show her and my budget of course, I was very pleased after meeting with her so I’m feeling pretty good. Although your flowers may not have been what you wanted they still look beautiful!

Thanks! They were pretty, but because she used more flowers than we wanted we ended up paying more. They were also falling apart because she used bouquet holders and didn't secure the flowers well. My husband's sister (bridesmaid) and my husband's sister-in-law had to use glue to hold my bouquet together about an hour before the ceremony. There wasn't time to glue the rest of the bouquets because we needed to take photos. We told the florist our bouquets were falling apart and she claimed she didn't have time to fix them. During the ceremony, my husband's sister's bouquet's well apart. During photos, the groomswoman's entire bouquet fell apart. We paid half the price for her compared to any other florist, but I didn't think there was going to be an issue because she was the florist for my brother's wedding and she did an amazing job. I certainly hope you don't experience any of this.

Oh no! That is awful, and frustrating that she wouldn’t take responsibility either. I hope not either, the florist we chose is the preferred vendor at our venue so my fingers are crossed. I’m sorry you had that experience!

I'm sure you won't have any problems then. Our florist was rather new to the business, but she had amazing reviews. My brother and his wife absolutely loved her. I had talked to some other florists when we started having problems with her, but my husband was concerned about firing her so close to our wedding. I regret not firing her anyways.
