Finally Booking Caterer Today— Ouch!

Nykole, on May 20, 2019 at 1:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
I’m less than five months out from my wedding and I’m just now booking my caterer. I know it probably seems very last minute, but I haven’t been that worried about it since the wedding is on a Wednesday and we’re doing Barbecue... albeit, fancy Barbecue! Lol. As suspected, I had no problem securing our favorite Barbecue joint for the date, but the amount of money we’re gonna have to come off of... YIKES! Don’t get me wrong, I knew going into this that food and beverage are the two biggest expenses (at least for my wedding), but daaaaaang! I’m not looking forward to writing this deposit check today! 😂😂😂😂 Oh well, at least it will be a damn delicious meal for everyone in attendance and that’s all that matters! 🥰🥴 Anyone else getting a little overwhelmed by the amount of money that goes into all of this? We’re paying for everything ourselves, so it’s been a little shocking. 😆🥴

Congratulations on booking. I know that's a huge relief. The sticker shock on some of these vendors can be a bit much even with the budgeting. Fortunately, my FH reigns me in when he sees my eyes getting a little big for things we don't need! We're paying for everything ourselves as well.

Food is the most expensive part of a wedding but the part people will remember the most. We paid $134 per person for food (not including alcohol) and it was totally worth it.

Food is the biggest charge in our wedding, I was surprised at charges at first but when they are broken down in an itemized quote, it made sense.

Congrats on booking - and good BBQ sounds delicious!

I know food is expensive. We are paying $120 pp for a lunch wedding on a Saturday - that does include alcohol tho - how much will people drink between 12 noon - 4 pm, that is still TBD.
