The initial number I gave to my caterer was 125. I have received most of all my rsvp back and I'm at 160. What in the hell? I've had people rsvp back with 14 people and 6 people. When the invite clearly says 2 seat have been reserved and Adult reception. I'm so in panic mode because what if I pay...

I was planning to call them and tell them that can't come but my mom thinks because they are family it's not right.

You HAVE to call. Your mom is wrong.

I invited my aunt and uncle and their 2 20-something kids. One can't make it, so we were asked if my cousin's gf can come in her place and we said sure. It didn't add anyone extra.

But THIS is ridiculous. And rude. How can anyone think its OK?

Whoa!! You need to call each of those guests individually and clarify who was invited. I'd divide up those guests between you and your fiance and get in touch with them ASAP! "Hi, just wanted to follow up on your RSVP! We're so excited to see you at the wedding, but wanted to clarify that the invitation was addressed to only Jane and Joe Smith, with 2 seats reserved for you. We will be unable to accommodate any additional guests. Thanks!"

Is this a joke? Because we have family members who like to fill in numbers like "72" or "105."

My situation wasn’t quite as extreme but I told the folks who said they were bringing extras on their RSVP cards that I had space constraints and couldn’t accommodate more guests. So incredibly rude. I think some people must live under rocks not to know this is inappropriate.
